Warning: This article contains spoilers for And Just Like That…’s July 3 episode “Silent Mode.”
And Just Like That… fans have discovered another head-scratching plot point.
Audience members have been expressing their opinions about the HBO Max series following the latest July 3 episode of the “Sex and the City” spinoff, where Nicole Ari Parker’s character Lisa Todd Wexley disclosed that her father, who was previously portrayed by Billy Dee Williams, had sadly passed away.
In the third season episode, Parker’s character shared that his father passed away this afternoon, unexpectedly suffering from a stroke. Later on, he delivered a heartfelt eulogy at the funeral service.
The only problem?
In the first season, Lisa revealed that her father was deceased. However, it seems the writers may have inadvertently or deliberately brought about his demise again in subsequent episodes.
During the first season of 2022, as Parker’s character expressed after Mr. Big (Chris Noth)’s demise, she mentioned that her reaction mirrored her own experience from losing her father the previous year. She described her rings trembling on her fingers while she was trying to maintain composure.
As for fans’ thoughts on the major continuity error?
As a devoted fan, I found myself perplexed when I came across a TikTok post comparing scenes from ‘And Just Like That’, commenting on the inconsistency. The user pointed out that someone had apparently forgotten the character’s father was killed off in season 1, only to reappear for dinner in season 2, and now he is gone again. Another viewer added that not everyone gets a second chance like this character did.
In the comment section, a fellow enthusiast chimed in, “It seems Carrie is dining with Big in the upcoming episode.” Another follower posed an intriguing question, “One can’t help but wonder if the writers are intentionally being casual about the plot development?
It’s not surprising, really, because similar production errors have been pointed out regarding AJLT before. For instance, during this current season, viewers spotted a funny blunder involving the set. Sarita Choudhury’s character, Seema Patel, was seen waving a fake ice cream cone that didn’t seem to melt or move at all while talking to Carrie Bradshaw in New York City’s Washington Square Park.
In a light-hearted manner, the TikToker playfully remarked on April 3, “Let’s make believe we’re enjoying genuine gelato.” Then, watching the actress carelessly toss her cone, he expressed his dislike for the series by saying, “I can’t stand this show at all.
Although the desserts may have been fictional, the romantic entanglements portrayed in the series were undeniably genuine. Dive into our ranking of every significant relationship from the original run of “SATC”.
Ugh, what an a–hole.
Best moment: N/A.
After experiencing so much unpleasantness and passive-aggression from the writer later on, it becomes challenging to recall their lighthearted, playful early interactions, such as when he broke up with her using a simple Post-it note.
Best moment: None are coming to mind at the moment, Berger. We’re sorry, we can’t. Don’t hate us.
No one believed this relationship would last, right? Still, Samantha gave it the ol’ college try.
My Best Moment: Following an exhilarating evening spent with Carrie and her latest companion, an incident occurred where Samantha advised Big to take a step back. In response, I confided in Samantha that our friendship wasn’t enough for me anymore.
It wasn’t something that viewers expected when they started watching Max’s comeback series, “And Just Like That”… but Miranda deciding to leave her husband and chase after a stand-up comedian across the nation certainly added an unexpected twist!
Most Memorable Scene: To be determined…perhaps? Alternatively, for the sheer hilarity of the situation, it might be when Che and Miranda got romantic in Carrie’s kitchen, while a post-hip-surgery Carrie had an accident and wet the bed.
It turned out that the romance between the Russian and Carrie was overly idealized from the beginning… and indeed, it was. He struggled to connect with her friends, and Carrie’s spontaneous decision to relocate to Paris ended up being a catastrophe.
Most Memorable Moment: Following numerous extravagant romantic gestures, Carrie found herself utterly captivated. Consequently, Petrovsky escorted her, resplendent in her ideal gown, to McDonald’s. There, they shared a leisurely dance as they waited for their fries. We too, were left spellbound.
Initially, Trey seemed like an ideal match for Charlotte on paper. However, issues started surfacing shortly after their marriage – such as his overbearing mother, impotence concerns, lack of interest in having children, and the unusual gesture of gifting a cardboard cut-out baby. What a peculiar choice indeed!
Most Memorable Incident: The special instance when Trey escorted Charlotte to Tiffany’s, allowing her to choose her perfect ring as a way to rectify his well-known “Alrighty!” remark.
In a twist of irony, the initial non-sexual relationship Samantha was in eventually concluded due to its focus on intimacy, specifically related to physical size concerns, more precisely her partner’s below-average stature.
Best moment: When Samantha told James she loved him. A huge (no pun intended) moment for her.
Poor, poor Skipper. He was kind of like a Steve-lite, and Miranda was able to walk all over him.
Best moment: When he calls her “luminous” during their chance meeting at a bodega.
In the films, it was unexpected when Carrie’s close friend and Charlotte’s wedding organizer ended up becoming friends too and eventually got together, but it feels fitting to us.
Most Memorable Moment: At their wedding ceremony, when Anthony declared, “Love didn’t strike instantly, but in retrospect, it was love all along. You were the first to embrace me as the true man I am.
To put it plainly, Aidan was an excellent individual, yet he wasn’t Carrie’s Perfect Match. Despite their best efforts to persuade themselves otherwise, it didn’t work out. Yet, the second season of “And Just Like That…” might show that second chances are all the rage this summer. (We choose to ignore their brief encounter in “Sex and the City 2.”)
Most Memorable Moment: Isn’t it peculiar that we found their second breakup scene, where they spent the night on the floor of an apartment they’d never share again, quite moving?
Discuss the unique aspect. Robert, nearly flawless with his role as a skilled doctor for the New York Knicks, shared the same soap opera preference as Miranda. However, there was one glaring difference: he didn’t measure up to Steve.
Unforgettable Moment: Experiencing the magic of our very first locker-side kiss or witnessing the courage she displayed in taking her first-ever personal day, all for me. Or, let’s not forget, sharing the unique bond that comes with going through the chicken pox together.
Among all the men portrayed in Sex and the City, Smith Jerrod could possibly be the finest. He was remarkably patient and generous towards Samantha, a woman known for her fierce independence, who struggled to resist developing feelings for the model-turned-celebrity.
Most touching memory: Aren’t there moments when you can’t help but get emotional, just by recalling Smith cutting off his beautiful hair for Samantha, as she went through chemotherapy and lost hers?
Absof–kinglutely. (Curse you, Peloton!)
A standout instance: Isn’t it clear that the most memorable scene is when Big surprises Carrie by flying to Paris to confess his love for her? (Admittedly, the bed fart/whoopee cushion trick remains amusing.)
Just as Miranda unexpectedly found herself falling for Steve, we were equally taken aback by our affection for the couple – an emotion that mirrors the shocking turn of events in the first season of “And Just Like That…”. Here’s to hoping Steve finds justice!
A defining moment showcasing the casual nature of ‘SATC’s’ least fussy couple was when Miranda unexpectedly proposed, followed by their intimate park wedding – they were spot on.” or simply, “Their unplanned proposal and park wedding in ‘SATC’ truly captured the essence of the show’s most laid-back couple.
Love sometimes surprises us at unexpected moments, such as when an initially unimpressive attorney during your divorce proceedings transforms into the man who captures your heart and becomes an exceptional parent to your kids beyond what you ever dreamed possible.
Most Memorable Moment: The charmingly disorganized yet flawlessly beautiful wedding ceremony. Right from the start, Charlotte dreamt of a storybook wedding, but what she received was a lifetime of a storybook marriage.
What truly matters most in life is your family – the ones who are related by blood and the ones chosen along the way. There will be times when you cherish them deeply, and others when you may feel frustrated, but ultimately, they are the people who welcome you back home. Family can sometimes mean those we’re born to, and other times it’s the loving group we build for ourselves over time.
Best Scene: Initially, we contemplated selecting Carrie escorting Miranda at her mother’s funeral as the most touching moment, but we felt a scene involving all four friends would be more fitting. Our preference? When Miranda shows an uncaring attitude towards her wedding upon learning about Samantha’s breast cancer diagnosis, with the entire group abandoning the celebration to support each other instead. This is what true friendship embodies: putting others ahead of yourself.
