My Hero Academia Animator Goes All Out to Draw Bakugo: “I Forcibly Snatched the Cut”

The popular manga My Hero Academia finished its run in August of last year, and now the anime is also nearing its end. The final season of MHA premiered on October 4th, 2025, continuing the intense story of the Final War Arc. Fans were thrilled by the unexpected return of Katsuki Bakugo at the start of the season. He was presumed dead after being seriously injured in Season 7. Even after his apparent disappearance, the battle raged on, with heroes facing devastating losses. In the second episode of Season 8, Bakugo makes a heartwarming return, beautifully animated, just as All Might was about to be defeated by All For One.

From across the battlefield, Edgeshot’s eyes lock with Deku, who is stunned by what’s happening. It’s revealed that Edgeshot used his quirk to transform himself into a thread, skillfully repairing the life-threatening wound in Bakugo’s chest and pulling him back from the edge of death. Immediately after recovering, Bakugo jumps back into the battle, rescuing All Might. He continues to fight All For One, and this intense conflict lasts until Episode 4 of Season 8. The episode was a huge success with viewers, who were particularly impressed by the stunning animation. One of the animators who worked on the episode shared in the excitement after it aired.

My Hero Academia Animator Expressed Excitement Over Drawing Bakugo

Yuki Sato, a highly respected animator for My Hero Academia who’s worked on the series and its films, as well as the spin-off My Hero Academia: Vigilantes, recently shared her enthusiasm on X (formerly Twitter). Just before the latest episode aired, she explained that she specifically requested to animate the final scenes of Katsuki Bakugo. She hoped to capture the essence of Bakugo’s character, affectionately known as ‘Kacchan,’ and asked viewers to pay close attention to her work.

After the episode aired, she expressed her love for the character Kacchan, saying he’s still the best. She jokingly lamented not being able to draw him enough and promised to keep practicing until he’s featured prominently again, ending with a hopeful message directed at Kacchan himself.

The final season of My Hero Academia doesn’t have a confirmed number of episodes yet, but it’s likely to have between 11 and 13, as the story is wrapping up. While the studio hasn’t announced the episode count, the anime’s official website has confirmed the final season will be released on Blu-ray in two parts. New episodes are available every Saturday on Crunchyroll and Netflix, which also have all seven previous seasons available to watch.
