Over the past few years, the creators of Football Manager have been working to make the game more appealing to players on consoles, and Football Manager 2026 for consoles feels like the result of all that effort.
Switching to the Unity engine allowed us to completely redesign the user interface, making it much easier to use with a controller.
If you’re curious about the release date and features of Football Manager 2026 Console, here’s everything you need to know.
When is the FM26 Console release date?
Football Manager 2026 will be available on PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X/S starting November 4th, 2025.
The game is launching on PS5 and Xbox Series X/S on the same day it comes out on PC. However, console players won’t have a beta test like PC players will, so this will be their first chance to play the game on those platforms.
Football Manager 2026 will also be available on Nintendo Switch, launching one month after other platforms on December 4th, 2025.
What to expect from FM26 Console
FM26 Console is essentially the same game as the PC version, but it’s been simplified and optimized for playing on consoles.
However, there are key differences between these two versions that you should be aware of, especially if you’re starting a new game.
Football Manager 2026 on consoles is limited to 30 seasons, so long-term saves like ‘Road to Glory’ or ‘Pentagon Challenge’ won’t be possible, which is disappointing for players who enjoy those types of games.
It’s also missing some features found in the full game, like the ability to create squads. These aren’t essential, but they would be welcome additions.
Finally, you won’t be able to modify the game’s files. This means no custom databases or skins. However, the updated user interface, designed for easier console gameplay, might make the lack of custom skins less of an issue.
If you’re looking for a relaxed and casual Football Manager experience, FM26 Console is a great choice. However, for the full, in-depth game, FM26 on PC is still the best option.
