Xbox Game Pass has gone through some recent updates, like a price increase for the Ultimate plan (now costing $30) and the addition of new subscription options. Xbox Cloud Gaming is now included with all plans. While the PC Game Pass price has also increased, the service itself hasn’t changed. Considering Microsoft seems to be designing its next Xbox to feel more like Windows, it’s interesting to think about how these changes will affect the future of Game Pass.
Jez Corden at Windows Central reports that Microsoft is planning to make Xbox multiplayer free, which would be a big benefit for players of popular games like Call of Duty and Battlefield. However, this change wouldn’t completely close the gap with PC Game Pass, as it still offers first-party games at a lower price.
As Corden points out, Microsoft might make big changes to PC Game Pass, potentially offering a Game Pass Ultimate version for PC at the current price with extra perks. Since Ubisoft+ Classics is already part of the package, along with bonuses for games like League of Legends, Overwatch 2, and Rainbow Six Siege, it’s still unclear exactly what those changes will look like.
