There’s been some misunderstanding about recent statements from Naoki Hamaguchi, the director of Final Fantasy 7 Remake, so he’s now working to clarify things.
I heard Hamaguchi say the last game in the Final Fantasy 7 remake trilogy will be a little tighter and more focused than Rebirth. Some people felt Rebirth had a bit too much stuff happening between the important plot points, so it sounds like they’re learning from that and making the finale a more streamlined experience. I’m really excited about that!
But the director is very keen to let fans know that “concise” does not equate to cutting content.
In a recent interview with VGC, he clarified that his earlier statements were misinterpreted. He explained that people seemed to think he was suggesting the new game would be shorter, with less story content, but that wasn’t his intention at all.
He explained that the goal was to ensure the story moved at a good pace. It wasn’t about removing content, but rather making sure the speed felt natural and allowed readers to progress comfortably. He emphasized the importance of this ‘right’ feeling throughout the narrative.
As we previously discussed, the third part of the project – currently without a formal title – has a significant amount of story to tell. The plot of Final Fantasy 7 really picks up speed after the events of Rebirth, so the development team is likely feeling pressure to ensure the story unfolds at the right pace.
So, when can we expect Part 3? When will it be announced? Hamaguchi doesn’t give a definite date, which isn’t surprising, but he hints that an announcement is coming soon.
