Just a heads-up: this contains spoilers from the Jujutsu Kaisen manga! As a fan, I can say 2023 was amazing for us, with the second season of the anime and, even more excitingly, Satoru Gojo’s return in the manga’s Culling Game Arc. Watching the Shibuya Incident Arc unfold was intense, especially when Gojo confronted Kenjaku, who was inhabiting Suguru Geto’s body. It was heartbreaking to see Gojo grapple with facing Geto again, considering their shared past and the tragedy of having to kill him. He was genuinely shocked and it took him a moment to realize he’d been tricked by Kenjaku. Once Gojo, widely considered the strongest sorcerer of our time, was sealed away, it felt like no one could stand against the villains.
Things got increasingly chaotic during the Culling Game arc, though the arrival of powerful sorcerers Yuta Okkotsu and Yuki Tsukumo provided some assistance. This arc is the longest in the series and will be covered in the upcoming Season 3. Its conclusion features the return of Gojo, leading into what many fans consider one of the best battles in modern manga. The fight was incredibly popular among fans, and the anime adaptation is expected to boost the series’ popularity even further.
Demon Slayer and Chainsaw Man Prove That Anime Is More Popular Than Ever

Both Demon Slayer‘s first film in the Infinity Castle trilogy and the return of Chainsaw Man after a three-year break were huge successes, shattering box office records worldwide and proving anime’s growing popularity. Demon Slayer: Infinity Castle became the highest-grossing anime film of all time, while Chainsaw Man – The Movie: Reze Arc earned widespread critical acclaim.
Both movies were successful and genuinely advanced the core storyline, which is great news for fans. Their success shows there’s potential for many more adaptations like these, and Jujutsu Kaisen should definitely explore that. While a 2021 film covered events from the past, it wasn’t directly connected to the main story; it simply provided background on what happened before Yuji Itadori started at Jujutsu High.
If Jujutsu Kaisen ever gets a movie, the perfect story to adapt would be the massive battle spanning around 15 chapters, filled with incredibly intense fight scenes that manga fans love. This fight culminates in Chapter 236 with Gojo’s death, and then the story shifts to the Sukuna Raid, where most of the characters team up to fight a truly frightening enemy.
Gojo vs. Sukuna Is Incredible Enough To Get Its Own Feature Film

Even though a full-length movie focusing on the battle between Gojo and Sukuna would be a smart move for the animation studio, the fight itself is exciting enough to draw viewers to the cinema. The previous movie did very well, and a feature film centered on this clash between the series’ two most powerful characters has the potential to be as popular as hits like Demon Slayer and Chainsaw Man. While the series hinted at this fight in its first season, the only time Gojo and Sukuna actually fought was when Sukuna wasn’t at full strength.
During the Culling Game arc, Sukuna managed to possess Megumi and challenged the most powerful sorcerer of the current time, Gojo, to a fight. Gojo was initially focused on defeating Kenjaku, but Sukuna’s arrival forced him to change his priorities. The resulting battle was incredibly intense and lasted for weeks, culminating in a divisive ending.
The manga kept readers gripped with intense battles and consistently ended chapters with exciting cliffhangers, showcasing the characters’ incredible abilities. While Jujutsu Kaisen features many strong characters, Gojo and Sukuna are the most powerful, with Sukuna demonstrating greater skill and experience than Gojo. The third season of the anime is scheduled to air in Winter 2026, starting with the Itadori’s Extermination and Perfect Preparation arcs before moving into the Culling Game storyline.
