The actress, known for playing Captain Marvel, said this particular performer truly embodies their superhero persona, both when acting and in their everyday behavior.

At SpaceCon 2025 in San Antonio, Brie Larson, who plays Captain Marvel, shared her admiration for her “The Marvels” co-star, Iman Vellani. Larson explained that Vellani seems to effortlessly portray her character, almost as if she’s just being herself, because she’s such a devoted fan of the Marvel Cinematic Universe and truly embodies the role. Larson also described Vellani as a kind person and fondly recalled many great experiences working with her.

Brie Larson and Iman Vellani first teamed up in the 2023 film The Marvels, alongside Teyonah Parris and Zawe Ashton. Their characters worked together to seal a dangerous tear in the multiverse that put the Kree people at risk. Before that, Larson made a quick appearance in the final episode of the Disney+ series Ms. Marvel, which was how Iman Vellani’s character, Kamala Khan, was introduced to the Marvel Cinematic Universe.

In a 2023 interview with Entertainment Weekly, Brie Larson praised Iman Vellani, calling her “the future” and “the perfect Ms. Marvel,” and sharing that Vellani is “one of my favorite people.” Larson also revealed that a key reason she took on the role of Captain Marvel was the exciting relationship between her character, Carol Danvers, and Kamala Khan.

Kevin Feige, president of Marvel Studios, shared with EW that Iman Vellani is a standout in The Marvels, practically stealing the show. Brie Larson, who also stars in the film, said she’s constantly learning from Vellani, adding that her younger co-star teaches her something new every day.

While Marvel Studios hasn’t made any official announcements, Brie Larson and Iman Vellani are likely to return as their characters in future Marvel Cinematic Universe films and series.
