With the upcoming release of Wicked: For Good, we can expect Ariana Grande and Cynthia Erivo to showcase looks inspired by the film. As the promotional tour begins for the 2025 movie, Cynthia Erivo, who plays Glinda, is surprising fans with her fashion choices. Though her first outfit isn’t the expected pink or green, it’s a beautiful nod to The Wizard of Oz and the exciting finale that Wicked promises.
Ariana Grande and Cynthia Erivo have been subtly referencing their roles as Elphaba and Glinda from the upcoming Wicked movie through their fashion choices for over a year – from their dresses at the Oscars and Olympic events to their looks at the Met Gala. They’ve consistently incorporated the musical’s themes into their style, and Ariana, along with her stylist Law Roach, are continuing to impress with even more creative outfits. Check out her latest look!

You wouldn’t typically expect the actress who plays Glinda in Wicked to wear black to a press event, but it’s a surprisingly great choice. It’s a nod to the classic film, The Wizard of Oz.
Ariana Grande is wearing a historically significant dress, according to her stylist, Law Roach. It was designed by Adrian, the head costume designer at MGM studios from 1928 to 1941. Roach explained that Adrian’s work on The Wizard of Oz was particularly impactful, creating iconic pieces that remain famous in both film and fashion. He highlighted the importance of both Adrian and the dress, which was worn by the actress who played Glinda.
Gilbert Adrian, often credited as ‘Gowns by Adrian,’ was the chief costume designer at MGM from 1928 to 1941. However, he’s most remembered for his work on the 1939 film The Wizard of Oz. He designed iconic outfits like Dorothy’s gingham dress and ruby slippers, Glinda’s dramatically pink gown, and the Wicked Witch of the West’s long black robes, all of which had a lasting impact on both film and fashion.
Roach went on to explain that after Adrian left MGM, he launched his own fashion house.
Recently, a stylist and actress have cleverly brought the artist’s work back into public attention.
It’s unexpected to see Ariana Grande in black during this press tour, but the look is absolutely perfect. It really showcases the creativity and talent of her stylist, Law Roach, and his approach to dressing for an occasion.
While many celebrities are embracing themed outfits for publicity, Law Roach is demonstrating his exceptional talent through Ariana Grande’s fashion choices. He’s already proven his skill with Zendaya’s memorable looks for films like Challengers and Dune: Part Two. Now, his carefully chosen outfits for Grande’s Wicked press tour are further showcasing his creativity, originality, and ability to create impactful and meaningful style moments.
With the November 21st release of Wicked: For Good approaching and the promotional events picking up, I’m excited to see what Ariana Grande and Law Roach have planned. I’m hoping for more amazing outfits that capture the spirit of the musical and honor the iconic legacy of The Wizard of Oz.
