New Leak Reveals Early Build of Upcoming Pokemon Game (And It’s Completely Different)

Earlier this month, sensitive information about future Pokémon games was leaked online. This leak included details about the next generation of games (potentially Generation 10) and a possible new installment in the Pokémon Legends series. Now, a data miner claims to have found an early, unfinished version of the upcoming game, reportedly called Pokémon Pokopia, within the leaked files.

Information about a possible early version of the game Pokemon Pokopia began circulating after X user @RyDawE posted an image on October 27th. This user, who claims to be a dedicated Pokemon fan and data miner, says they found a complete beta version of Pokopia from 2019 – a playable project built in Unity. Shortly after, leak account @CentroLeaks shared video footage allegedly showing them playing this beta. If the footage is genuine, this version of Pokopia looks quite different from the trailer released in 2025.

Alleged Early Build of Pokopia Looks More Like Stardew Valley Meets The Sims than Minecraft

RyDawgE discovered what appears to be a complete, playable beta version of an early Pokopia Concept. They shared some 2D pixel art from the project and promised more details as they gathered everything. Shortly after, Centro Leaks released a two-minute video showing the game in action, giving players a better idea of what the 2019 concept looked like.

A playable beta version of the game Pokopia, originally from 2019, has been discovered and is being shared. This is related to the #freakleak and #teraleak data releases.

This early version of the game seems to let you assign tasks to Pokémon. The graphics look a bit like the pixel art in Stardew Valley, but managing the Pokémon feels similar to a life simulation game like The Sims. Interestingly, the Human Ditto character isn’t included – it’s a shame, as it could have been interesting!

This gameplay is noticeably different from the initial Pokopia reveal earlier this year, which isn’t surprising considering this version is an older prototype from 2019. According to Centro Leaks, Pokopia started as a project solely by Game Freak, likely explaining the change in the game’s direction. The Pokemon Pokopia we see now is a collaboration between Creatures Inc., Game Freak, and Koei Tecmo.

The current version of Pokemon Pokopia has a 3D art style similar to Animal Crossing. If this early beta is the final game, Pokopia has changed a lot. In the version we’ve seen, players learn how to do things from Pokemon. It’s not yet known if players will also be able to give tasks to their Pokemon, but it appears the ability to play as a Human Ditto was added later in development.

A fully functional, unreleased demo of the Pokémon game, Pokopia, has been discovered, including all of its original code. Interestingly, Pokopia initially resembled Stardew Valley more than Minecraft. Players would have tasked their Pokémon with gathering resources and managing production.

The leaked gameplay footage also reveals a day-night cycle, which Pokémon’s official website confirms is a natural part of the game. This feature appears to have been included since the very early stages of development. However, much of the game’s appearance has changed, as this older video looks more like a mobile game with in-app purchases to unlock features.

Keep in mind that leaked information often includes unverified details, unfinished content, and speculation. Even if this file is a genuine early version of Pokopia, it’s difficult to know how much it reflects the game as it is today. Still, it’s fascinating to get a glimpse of how the project evolved from its initial ideas to the game we’ll see next year.

The new Pokémon game, Pokémon Pokopia, is scheduled to launch on the Nintendo Switch 2 in 2026. While a specific date hasn’t been announced, it’s expected to be the first Pokémon game made specifically for the new console, potentially before the release of the next generation of Pokémon (Gen 10).
