Following a successful run in cinemas, Downton Abbey: The Grand Finale is coming to streaming. The film, which premiered in theaters on September 12, 2025, concludes the Downton Abbey film series that began in 2019 and continued with A New Era in 2022. These films are continuations of the beloved TV series Downton Abbey, which originally aired from 2010 to 2015 and followed the lives of the Crawley family and their staff in the years after the Edwardian era.
Peacock has announced that Downton Abbey: The Grand Finale will begin streaming on Peacock starting November 7, 2025. That marks a 56-day theatrical window for the acclaimed final chapter, which has a Certified Fresh 91% score on Rotten Tomatoes. Currently, all six seasons of Downton Abbey and the two previous films are streaming on Peacock, making it the number one destination to binge the franchise this holiday season. Read the official synopsis for The Grand Finale:
The beloved story of the Crawley family and Downton Abbey continues in the 1930s. As Mary navigates a public scandal and the family struggles with money problems, everyone at Downton faces the possibility of losing their reputation. With change on the horizon, the family and staff prepare for the future and a new generation taking the reins.
How Did ‘Downton Abbey: The Grand Finale’ Compare to Previous Films?

Focus Features
The new movie Downton Abbey: The Grand Finale earned $18.1 million during its opening weekend, placing third behind the highly successful Demon Slayer: Kimetsu no Yaiba – The Movie – Infinity Castle. Overall, the film made $44 million in the United States and $100 million globally, which is a good return considering its $50 million production cost. Released ten years after the original Downton Abbey series ended, The Grand Finale offered fans one last opportunity to revisit the beloved characters and story.
I was so excited when the first Downton Abbey movie came out, and it really delivered! It made $96 million here in the US and almost $194 million around the world in 2019. The second film, Downton Abbey: A New Era, did okay, earning $44 million domestically and $92 million globally in 2022. Actually, the most recent one, Downton Abbey: The Grand Finale, made about the same amount domestically as A New Era, but it earned a bit more worldwide. Still, neither of the movies quite reached the success of the very first one. I think the timing really helped the original, too – it came out in 2019, just before everything shut down with the pandemic, and that was a really big year for movies overall.
Peacock is really making a push for holiday viewers, and I’m here for it! They’ve already added How to Train Your Dragon – it dropped on October 10th – and Jurassic World: Rebirth is coming on October 30th. It’s a pretty diverse lineup, but that’s a good thing! And speaking of diverse, Downton Abbey: The Grand Finale is hitting the service soon, and I predict it’s going to be huge. Downton Abbey is still incredibly popular, so this finale will likely bring in a lot of new viewers – and maybe even get people revisiting the original series and movies. Overall, Peacock is quickly becoming a streaming service you don’t want to miss this holiday season.
