In recent years, Absolute Batman has quickly become one of the most talked-about comic series, and it’s not hard to understand why. With stunning artwork and a unique combination of gritty intensity and the hopeful spirit at the heart of Batman, the series brilliantly updates the classic Batman story. It was also an ideal launchpad for DC’s Absolute Universe line.
The Absolute Batman graphic novels and the Absolute Universe series have been very popular, and fans are already hoping to see them adapted into animated form. While there’s no official announcement yet, one of the creators of Absolute Batman has a fantastic idea for an anime version.
Why Absolute Batman Could Be DC’s Next Big Anime

During a recent question-and-answer session, the creators of Absolute Batman, Scott Snyder and Nick Dragotta, were asked about potential film or TV adaptations of the Absolute Universe. Dragotta admitted he didn’t have any inside information, but expressed his enthusiasm for Studio Trigger to create an Absolute Batman anime.
Whether it’s just Nick Dragotta’s view or not, it’s hard to imagine a better approach. Studio Trigger is known for the stunning visuals in shows like Gurren Lagann, Kill la Kill, and Cyberpunk: Edgerunners, and bringing that same style to DC’s Absolute Universe would be incredible.
At its heart, Absolute Universe is a story about good people standing up to a controlling and unfair world that claims to be about order. These kinds of themes appear often in anime from Studio Trigger, making them a perfect fit to adapt this story well.
Why DC Needs To Go All-In On Anime

As a huge anime fan, the idea of Studio Trigger tackling an Absolute Batman anime just gets me so excited! DC really deserves more attention in the anime world, you know? They’ve always been strong with animation – I grew up loving the DC Animated Universe – but they haven’t really dipped their toes into full-blown anime like Marvel has. An Absolute Batman series would be the perfect way to change that and finally give DC the anime spotlight it deserves!
DC’s previous forays into anime have shown a lot of promise. Projects like Batman: Gotham Knight demonstrated impressive creativity, while Batman Ninja was delightfully over-the-top. Given this success, an action-packed and emotionally resonant story like Absolute Batman would be a fantastic next step for DC in the anime world.
I’m telling you, anime is huge right now, and DC is missing out if they don’t jump on board! Honestly, the perfect way for them to do it would be teaming up with Studio Trigger to adapt Absolute Batman. There’s been no announcement yet, but an animated series based on the Absolute Universe just feels like it’s going to happen eventually, and this collaboration would be absolutely incredible. It’s the pitch we need!
