With November just around the corner, all the major streaming services like Netflix, HBO Max, and Peacock are adding a lot of new movies and shows. Sci-fi fans especially will find plenty to watch, so keep an eye out for the new releases!
With a lot of science fiction movies coming to streaming services in November, we’ve put together a list of the best ones. These five films will be available this month, and you’ll want to add them to your watchlist as soon as you can.
5. Mickey 17 (Prime Video)

Following the massive success of his Oscar-winning film Parasite, director Bong Joon-ho returned to the big screen this year with Mickey 17, based on Edward Ashton’s novel Mickey7. Starring Robert Pattinson, the movie delivers the humor, emotion, and intelligent storytelling audiences expect from Bong. Despite critical praise, however, it didn’t attract many viewers in theaters and ultimately underperformed at the box office, which was disappointing for fans and the director alike.
Although Mickey 17 didn’t make much money in theaters, it’s found a larger audience through streaming and home video releases this year. Starting November 26th, you’ll be able to watch it on Prime Video, reaching even more viewers than it had on HBO Max. If you haven’t seen it yet, now’s a great time to check it out!
4. Men in Black (Peacock)

Everyone loves the sci-fi comedy Back to the Future, and for good reason – it’s a true classic! I almost included it in this list, especially since the whole trilogy is returning to Netflix. But there’s another sci-fi comedy that’s just as good, yet doesn’t get the recognition it deserves.
It’s hard to consider a huge hit like Men in Black – which starred two popular actors and earned nearly $700 million in 1997 – “underrated,” but it often feels that way. The movie is consistently funny, the alien creatures are wonderfully creative, and its fresh take on a secret world still feels relevant today. Men in Black holds up surprisingly well, and it’s returning to Peacock on November 1st, along with all the sequels.
3. Dawn of the Planet of the Apes (HBO Max)

It’s often hard for science fiction sequels to live up to the originals, and revisiting old favorites after many years usually disappoints. However, Matt Reeves successfully revitalized the Planet of the Apes franchise.
As a huge film fan, I think Dawn of the Planet of the Apes – released in 2014 – is easily one of the best in the whole Apes series, and it really rivals the original. What’s amazing is how incredibly human and relatable this blockbuster is, especially considering it features so few human characters! Andy Serkis’ performance as Caesar is just phenomenal; he created a character who’s complex, sympathetic, and truly one of the most memorable leads in any big franchise.
As a big fan of the Planet of the Apes series, I’m excited to share that Dawn of the Planet of the Apes is coming to HBO Max on November 2nd! And if you enjoy that one, the newest installment, Kingdom of the Planet of the Apes, will be available on the same service starting November 13th. Definitely worth checking both out!
2. 10 Cloverfield Lane

Matt Reeves, who directed The Batman, first gained attention with the innovative monster movie Cloverfield, which really changed the sci-fi and found footage genres. Eight years later, Dan Trachtenberg released a sequel that took a very different approach, and many believe it was even more impactful.
10 Cloverfield Lane traps three people in an underground shelter during an alien invasion, but it’s very different from the first Cloverfield movie. It’s a suspenseful and gripping thriller that will keep you hooked, boosted by a fantastic performance from John Goodman, who plays the intimidating owner of the bunker.
Tubi will make 10 Cloverfield Lane completely free to stream beginning on November 24th.
1. The Terminator (Paramount+)

James Cameron is a master at combining science fiction with thrilling action. While he’s created many impressive films, The Terminator truly launched his career and remains incredibly significant.
Even after over 40 years, The Terminator remains a hugely popular film. The story of Sarah and John Connor’s fight against the machines, led by Skynet, still feels as thrilling as it did when it first came out in 1984. And now, it’s becoming even easier to watch – The Terminator will be available on Paramount+ starting November 1st.
