It’s important to introduce some key Marvel Comics characters into the Marvel Cinematic Universe prior to the 2027 release of “Avengers: Secret Wars”. The Russo brothers, who are directing the film, plan to draw inspiration from both the 1984 and 2015 “Secret Wars” comic events. These events had a significant impact on the Marvel Universe, and it’s expected that “Avengers: Secret Wars” will have a similar effect on the MCU, especially if the main villains are properly set up before the grand finale of the Multiverse Saga.
The film titled “Avengers: Secret Wars” is set to hit theaters on December 17, 2027, a year following “Avengers: Doomsday.” These epic crossovers will mark the conclusion of the Multiverse Saga, assembling numerous familiar and fresh faces from the Marvel Cinematic Universe. Both “Doomsday” and “Secret Wars” will not only emphasize our favorite heroes but also give prominence to some of Marvel’s legendary supervillains. However, there are certain villains that have yet to make their debut in the MCU, despite playing significant roles in the 1984 and 2015 Marvel Comics storylines.
5) The Beyonder

So far, the Beyonder, a powerful cosmic entity crucial to the 1984 “Secret Wars” comic book storyline, has yet to make an appearance in the Marvel Cinematic Universe. In this tale, the Beyonder gathered Marvel’s superheroes and villains on Battleworld, compelling them to battle each other. Eventually, Doctor Doom seized the Beyonder’s powers, but later, the Beyonder reclaimed his powers and restored everyone. Prior to the 2015 “Secret Wars”, it was disclosed that the Beyonder was part of a larger race of Beyonders, with Doctor Doom once more taking control of their powers.
In the year 2015, Doctor Doom seized the powers of the Beyonders to construct Battleworld, thereby rescuing numerous people following the destructive incursions that plagued the multiverse. The Beyonder has made multiple appearances in Marvel Comics, demonstrating a fondness for humanity and its superpowered beings. It would be intriguing to witness the Beyonder – or the Beyonders – make their entrance into the MCU before Avengers: Secret Wars, paving the way for Robert Downey Jr.’s Doctor Doom to swipe their powers and safeguard reality, potentially altering the course of the MCU forever.
4) Reed Richards’ Maker

Pedro Pascal is set to introduce himself as Mister Fantastic (Reed Richards) soon, but fans are also excited about the possibility of seeing his villainous counterpart from the Earth-1610 comics in the Marvel Cinematic Universe (MCU). The Maker plays a crucial part in the 2015 comic event Secret Wars, where he vigorously battles to annihilate the main Marvel Universe of Earth-616 in order to safeguard his own reality during an incursion. Given that Miles Teller’s Reed Richards from the 2015 film Fantastic Four was loosely based on The Maker, there’s been some buzz suggesting Teller might reprise his role in Secret Wars, potentially giving this powerful villain a place in the MCU.
3) Molecule Man

Secret Wars” more faithful to the comics.
2) Venom

In one aspect, Venom has made an appearance in the Marvel Cinematic Universe (MCU), with Tom Hardy’s Eddie Brock appearing in the mid-credits scene of Spider-Man: No Way Home. However, he was quickly sent back home, so the alien symbiote hasn’t officially debuted in the MCU yet. Future movies like Spider-Man: Brand New Day, Avengers: Doomsday, or Secret Wars could be ideal for Venom’s MCU introduction, given that Marvel Comics’ Peter Parker first donned his black alien suit in the 1984 comic event, Secret Wars. This initial encounter granted him extra powers before eventually corrupting him, which could serve as a logical progression for Tom Holland’s Spider-Man character within the MCU.
1) Doctor Doom

It’s clear that Marvel Studios should introduce Doctor Doom as the main antagonist prior to the release of Avengers: Secret Wars in December 2027. During the 2024 San Diego Comic-Con presentation, it was confirmed that Robert Downey Jr. would rejoin the Marvel Cinematic Universe as Victor Von Doom instead of reprising his role as Tony Stark’s Iron Man. Known for his menacing presence, Doctor Doom is one of Marvel’s most renowned adversaries and plays a pivotal role in both the 1984 and 2015 versions of Secret Wars, often serving as the central figure due to his acquisition of Beyonder powers, which he uses to boost his own might. However, in these stories, he ultimately meets his match and is defeated.
It’s been confirmed that Doctor Doom will make his debut in the MCU before Avengers: Secret Wars, and he’ll play a significant role in the 2026 film, Avengers: Doomsday. There are also rumors suggesting that Doctor Doom might appear in other MCU movies like The Fantastic Four: First Steps and Spider-Man: Brand New Day, although these appearances haven’t been officially confirmed yet. If this happens, the portrayal of Doctor Doom by Downey Jr. could see extensive growth before he transforms into God Emperor Doom in Avengers: Secret Wars.
