Ant Anstead is on the mend.
The television personality, who has been with Renée Zellweger for the last four years and was formerly married to Christina Haack, is recovering from surgery after a soccer injury to his arm and shoulder.
I recently had a really unfortunate accident while playing football – I completely tore my pectoral muscle, rotator cuff, and labrum! I had surgery on November 1st, and now I’m being told I have to rest, which, honestly, isn’t exactly my strong suit. But I’m trying to see this as a good thing, a sign that maybe I should slow down for a bit.
Ant, father to Amelie, 22, and Archie, 19 (with his ex-partner Louise Storey), and Hudson, 6 (with Christina), shared a photo of himself recovering at home. He was pictured sitting in a recliner with his arm in a sling and his legs elevated on an ottoman, wearing compression socks.
Ant says the accident happened shortly after he started focusing on improving his health. He expressed his distress about three close friends receiving serious diagnoses, stating, “October can officially go away!” This prompted him to thoroughly investigate his own well-being, leading him to research topics like diet, peptides, body scans, and vitamins.
He explained that his recent injury has made him focus on his health again, especially since he’s getting older and needs to prioritize taking better care of his body.

Despite a recent injury, October had a bright spot for Ant. Just three weeks before getting hurt, he publicly shared a positive update about how he and Christina are raising their children together.
Ant Anstead shared a positive update on Instagram about his son, Hudzo, during teacher conference week. He praised himself and Christina Haack, Hudzo’s mother, writing, ‘We’re doing a great job with this little chap!’ and acknowledged her efforts with a ‘Nice work mum x’.
Christina responded in the comments, “Sweetest boy!!”
Everyone is rooting for Ant as he gets better. While he recovers, here’s a look at how other celebrities have dealt with health challenges…

Nikki Bella, known from Total Bellas, shared that one of her breast implants moved after being hit during the elbow of WWE wrestler Piper Niven in a match back in July 2025.
She reassured her sister, Bella Garcia, that they would eventually get the issue resolved. She explained to the doctor that as soon as she finished her current commitment, she would return to address the problem and ensure everything looked its best, anticipating future use and wanting it to be presentable.

Lupita Nyong’o, known for her role in 12 Years a Slave, received a diagnosis of uterine fibroids—non-cancerous growths in or around the uterus—in 2014, the same year she won an Academy Award for her performance in the film.
She didn’t reveal her diagnosis until 2025, sharing on Instagram that she had privately struggled with it for over ten years.
Honestly, growing up, it felt like everyone just expected periods to be awful. Like, pain was just… part of the deal with being a woman, and you were supposed to just deal with it silently. It’s so frustrating because it feels like so many of us are going through this, and we’re all just suffering alone with it, you know? It’s like this secret struggle we all share, but no one really talks about.

In July 2025, the actress from Daisy Jones & The Six revealed she was hospitalized for a hernia. This happened because she’d been wearing pants that were too tight, which caused a gap to form in her abdominal muscles.
Someone messaged Suki on X, the platform formerly known as Twitter, asking why she hadn’t posted recently. The message jokingly explained the silence by saying the sender had suffered a hernia six months ago from wearing very tight pants and had been afraid to mention it.

In April 2025, the former star of Beverly Hills, 90210 shared that he was recovering from surgery to repair a nearly ruptured appendix.
Brian shared in an Instagram video that he recently experienced stomach pain which led him to the emergency room. He explained he had a perforated appendix – it hadn’t fully burst, but was very close to it.
He added, “I’m on the road to recovery. It’s not an easy process. This is my first major surgery.”

During a soccer game against Seattle Reign on September 14th at Lumen Field in Seattle, a midfielder from Racing Louisville collapsed after only a few minutes of play.
According to Reuters, the U.S. Women’s National Team player sat down on the field with a teammate for support, and then quickly collapsed. Trainers were called to assess her condition.
After receiving initial medical attention on the field, Savannah was taken to a nearby hospital for more tests. League officials reported that she is currently in stable condition and is alert.

Adam Devine revealed that injuries from being hit by a cement truck as a child continue to bother him now.
“It’s been awful,” Devine shared on the 2025 episode of the In Depth With Graham Bensinger podcast. “I’ve been having spasms all over my body, and doctors told me recently that I was facing a life-threatening situation—I really thought I was going to die within the last year.”
He explained that his pain is intermittent, and described having some physical imperfections, saying, “My body isn’t quite perfect.”

I was so worried to hear that one of our Bachelor family members ended up in the hospital! Apparently, he had terrible back pain that flared up during an RV trip with a friend, and it got so bad he actually had to crawl on all fours to get help. It sounds incredibly painful, and I’m sending him all my best wishes for a speedy recovery.
Okay, so he was talking about it on his podcast, Trading Secrets, and it’s still totally freaking me out! He said his knees are still tingling, like, weeks later! Can you believe it? He put it in perspective by saying just a month ago he was squatting almost 300 pounds! And now? He can’t even do a squat, let alone a one-legged one! He actually said he falls when he tries, and it felt like he’d had a stroke! It’s so scary to think about, and I’ve been replaying that part of the podcast over and over.
But with the help of a back specialist and some steroids, he added, “We’re on the mend.”

Gina Kirschenheiter, from The Real Housewives of Orange County, revealed that her ex-husband, Matt Kirschenheiter, had a heart attack in March 2025, but he is recovering well.

In March 2025, the actor from 30 Rock experienced a medical issue at a New York Knicks game and had to be helped out of Madison Square Garden.
The comedian later posted on social media to explain he’d actually gotten food poisoning and was starting to feel better.

In February 2025, the former Even Stevens star revealed she was shot in the face during a birthday celebration for her husband, Brendan Rooney. They were on a trip to go clay pigeon shooting when the incident occurred.
In an Instagram post, she explained that she was accidentally shot in the face by someone at a party. They fired a weapon unsafely, and the bullet struck her. Thankfully, @thebrendanrooney quickly helped, checked her condition, and drove her to the hospital. She was hit five times, with one bullet narrowly missing her right eye by less than an inch.
The former Kim Possible star shared that a small piece of something got stuck behind their eye. Doctors have advised against removing it with surgery right now, but they’ll keep a close watch on the situation. Thankfully, their vision is currently normal.
As a huge fan, hearing her speak just broke my heart, but also filled me with so much hope. She shared that she’s incredibly thankful to still be with us, and honestly, it was a powerful reminder for all of us. She talked about how much she loves her daughters, her husband, her family and friends – it was so touching. She said she literally saw her life pass before her eyes, and she urged everyone to cherish their loved ones and hug them whenever they get the chance, because life can change in an instant. It really resonated with me, and I think with a lot of people.

Amy Schumer is grateful for the internet, surprisingly, because it helped her discover a health issue. After noticing she looked “puffier” in photos, she received a lot of criticism online. But then, doctors began commenting, expressing concern that she might have Cushing syndrome, a condition often linked to high cortisol levels or steroid injections. This prompted Amy to realize she’d been receiving steroid injections after a breast reduction and C-section. She later learned she had a form of Cushing syndrome that would resolve on its own, and she’s relieved to be healthy. As she shared, getting this diagnosis and knowing she’d be okay was the best news she could have hoped for.

In December 2024, an AHL player suffered a skate cut during a game and needed 25 stitches to close the wound. After his son fully recovered, New Jersey Devils General Manager Tom Fitzgerald told ESPN how grateful they were, saying, “We feel very lucky, and I wouldn’t want any parent to go through that.”

In March 2022, Hailey Bieber experienced a frightening health scare while having breakfast with her husband, Justin Bieber. She suddenly developed stroke-like symptoms, struggling to speak and noticing her face drooping. Although the symptoms eventually passed, she went to the hospital for tests. Doctors discovered she’d had a small blood clot travel to her brain, which they identified as a TIA (Transient Ischemic Attack), sometimes called a mini-stroke. Further testing at UCLA revealed Hailey had a hole in her heart called a patent foramen ovale (PFO). This hole allowed the blood clot to reach her brain, causing the TIA. Thankfully, Hailey underwent a successful procedure to close the PFO and is now doing well.

The same year Hailey faced a health issue, Justin also experienced one. In June 2022, he revealed he had been diagnosed with Ramsay Hunt syndrome, a condition that caused temporary paralysis on one side of his face. This forced him to cancel the rest of his Justice World Tour.
In a video posted to Instagram, Justin explained the virus affected the nerves in his ear and face, preventing him from blinking, smiling, or moving his nostril on the affected side. He also shared that it had become increasingly difficult to eat. Fortunately, the paralysis eventually went away.
Hailey shared on Good Morning America that Justin was recovering well and feeling much better. She described the situation as scary and unexpected, but reassured everyone that he would be completely fine and she was thankful he was on the mend.

Jamie Foxx recently shared details about the serious health scare he experienced in April 2023, which he had initially kept private. In his 2024 Netflix special, What Had Happened Was…, he explained that he was suffering from a severe headache when he suddenly lost consciousness. He doesn’t remember the next twenty days.
Initially, a doctor gave him a cortisone shot and sent him home, but his sister, Deidra Dixon, was worried and took him to the hospital. Doctors discovered he’d had a brain bleed, which led to a stroke.
After surgery, twenty days passed before he woke up on May 4th, finding himself in a wheelchair and unable to walk. He then traveled to Chicago for extensive rehabilitation and therapy.
Foxx expressed his gratitude for the overwhelming support he received, saying, “I appreciate every prayer, because I needed every prayer.”

The reality TV star shared that she briefly stopped breathing while running a mile during the first challenge on the NBC competition show.
She shared on the show Fit for TV: The Reality of The Biggest Loser that her memory of the event was fragmented. She recalled hearing a helicopter, feeling like she was floating, and then seeing her grandfather before everything went dark. After that, she saw light, which led her to realize she had died that day.
She explained that her organs were failing and she hadn’t known she had rhabdomyolysis, a condition where the body essentially begins to shut down.

As a lifestyle expert, I’ve always admired Emilia Clarke, not just for her incredible acting, but for her resilience. Many of you probably remember her as Daenerys Targaryen in Game of Thrones, but what most people didn’t know is that she was battling for her life even while filming those intense battle scenes. In 2019, she bravely shared her story in an essay for The New Yorker, detailing a terrifying health crisis. It started with a severe headache at the gym, quickly escalating to debilitating pain and vomiting. She knew something was seriously wrong – her brain was damaged.
It turned out she’d suffered a subarachnoid hemorrhage, a life-threatening stroke caused by a ruptured aneurysm. She underwent immediate surgery, but even after that, recovery wasn’t straightforward. She experienced aphasia, struggling to form coherent sentences, and was left in immense pain. After a month in the hospital, she was finally discharged, but her ordeal wasn’t over.
A routine scan in 2013 revealed the aneurysm had doubled in size, requiring a second, even more invasive surgery. This time, doctors had to access her brain directly through her skull. It was a frightening experience, and the procedure initially failed, leading to another massive bleed. Thankfully, the doctors were able to operate again, and she made a full recovery. It’s inspiring to hear she’s now at 100%, and I applaud her for sharing her story with such honesty and vulnerability.

Cori Broadus, Snoop Dogg’s daughter, recently shared her gratitude for her family’s support during a health crisis. In January 2024, she suffered a stroke and immediately reached out to her loved ones, sending them a text and a picture. She told TopMob News that everyone quickly came to her aid.
Cori ended up staying in the hospital longer than expected due to other health issues. While she could have gone home after the stroke, she was also dealing with complications from lupus and kidney problems.
Fortunately, Cori is now recovering well. She says she’s feeling great and has been working to regain some motor skills, but is otherwise doing fine.

Shailene Woodley struggled with significant health issues throughout her 20s. In a September 2024 podcast interview, she described a time when she was losing her hearing, unable to walk for more than a few minutes without needing to rest for hours, and experiencing constant stomach pain. She faced a confusing array of diagnoses and conflicting advice from doctors.
Determined to find answers, Woodley, who comes from a holistic health background and studies herbalism, sought help from both traditional doctors and alternative healers. This search for well-being spanned a decade.
She explained that the physical discomfort led to anxiety around food and eventually, issues with body image and a sense of self. However, after years of focusing on both her physical and mental health, Woodley is now doing much better. She happily shared that her health issues have resolved, and she is currently very healthy.
