Season 2 of Netflix’s Ransom Canyon will introduce a new family member to the show, played by an actor known from ABC’s High Potential. Ransom Canyon mainly follows the lives of three ranching families, with Josh Duhamel as Staten Kirkland taking center stage. Relationships between characters are a key part of the series.
Steve Howey, known for his work on High Potential, is joining the cast of Ransom Canyon for its second season, according to Deadline. He’ll play Levi, the half-brother of Staten, and is described as a self-sufficient man who lives close to nature. Howey will appear in multiple episodes, but details about his specific storyline are being kept secret.
Season 2 of Ransom Canyon is currently being filmed at Netflix Studios in Albuquerque. The new season will continue the story of the fight for control of Ransom, focusing on Staten and Quinn (played by Minka Kelly). Kit, played by Casey W. Johnson, will now be a main character, while Eoin Macken and Andrew Liner will no longer be regular cast members as Davis and Reid Collins.

Howey has been cast in several big roles recently, including a new regular part on season 2 of High Potential and a recurring role in Prime Video’s Off Campus. He’s also joined the cast of Ransom Canyon, continuing a busy period for the former Shameless and Reba actor.
The first season of Ransom Canyon concluded with several key developments that will significantly impact the show’s future. Notably, Cap died in the ninth episode, and the romantic relationship between Staten and Quinn remained unresolved. Meanwhile, Margaret was arrested, and Kit was released, suggesting his storyline will become more central going forward.
Now that Macken Davis and Reid Liner won’t be main characters anymore, only Sam Staten will continue as a regular member of the family. Levi’s appearance, even as a guest star, will help compensate for their departure. However, it’s still unclear how he’ll be involved in the ongoing drama at the ranch.
Filming for season two of Ransom Canyon is still happening, so we’ll likely have to wait to fully understand the significance of Howey’s character. Right now, it looks like he’ll be closely involved in Staten’s story, and his actions could be very important in determining the outcome of the conflict over the ranch in future episodes.
