Although only half of the game ‘Dispatch’ is currently released, it’s already been a hit for AdHoc Studio, selling over one million copies on PlayStation 5.
The Los Angeles-based developer shared news of a sales achievement on social media. They plan to release four more episodes soon. Currently, the first four episodes are included with the PS5 game purchase. Episodes five and six will be available this Wednesday, and the final two episodes will be released on November 12th.
It’s been a while since an episodic game – like those originally made popular by Telltale Games – has been such a big hit, particularly before all the parts are out. On Steam, the PC platform that tracks how many people are playing, we’re seeing a huge return of players with each new episode release, with peaks reaching 65,000 players.
We’re still playing through the whole game to give it a final score, but our early impressions of Dispatch on PS5 are very positive. We’ve said that the first two episodes are full of charm, clever writing, and style. While the humor might be a little too sweet for some, we’re excited to see what happens next.
