Christopher Meloni, the star of the Law & Order franchise, has been playfully called a “Zaddy” for quite some time, and he’s definitely embracing the title as he appears in the 2025 TV season. He’s aware of the label and has even channeled that energy while filming Law & Order: Organized Crime. A key part of being a “Zaddy,” according to Meloni, is staying in great shape, and his dedication to a fitness routine he’s maintained for the past 50 years is truly impressive.
Let me tell you, Meloni is looking good – no wonder everyone’s calling him a Zaddy! I was listening to him chat with Amy Poehler on her podcast, Good Hang, and she asked the question we’re all thinking: how does he stay in such incredible shape? He’s gearing up to play an NFL coach in a new Hulu series from the creator of This Is Us and Paradise, Dan Fogelman, and honestly, his dedication is impressive. He said he hits the gym four or five times a week, but that’s not even the most surprising thing he revealed…
I’ve made it a priority to stay in shape for about fifty years, and I’ve consistently worked out, with the longest break I’ve taken being around two weeks.
Poehler was really impressed that Meloni has consistently worked out for so long. While he likely hasn’t followed the exact same routine every day and has experimented with different methods, it’s amazing he’s maintained this commitment for fifty years, most of his life. Poehler jokingly called it “a nightmare,” and Meloni wholeheartedly agreed.
And it was. It is. But now it’s my drug of choice, so it’s all good.
Given that Christopher Meloni likely trains regularly for his role on Law & Order and needs to stay in shape, it’s understandable he’s maintained a fitness routine for the past twenty years. However, doing so for five decades is truly remarkable, particularly since he started as a teenager. He doesn’t appear to be slowing down, and while it’s challenging for him, staying fit is deeply ingrained in his lifestyle and it would feel odd for him to stop now.
I’m really curious about his workout routine, though I definitely wouldn’t try it myself – it seems way too intense! Still, it’s amazing he’s stuck with it for 50 years, and maybe even longer. It just proves that with enough dedication, you can achieve anything, even if it’s incredibly challenging.
You can see the results of Meloni’s fitness dedication by watching all episodes of Law & Order: SVU and Law & Order: Organized Crime on Peacock. He’s also preparing for a new football-themed series on Hulu, which will likely require even more intense training, but the effort will be worthwhile.
