It’s disappointing for many fans, but Marvel is ending its Ultimate Universe line of comics. Even though titles like The Ultimates and Ultimate Spider-Man have been successful, Marvel has stated that the series will conclude with the Ultimate Endgame event next year. It feels especially abrupt as the Ultimate Universe was gaining momentum, and there are still many characters and stories left unexplored.
Even though the Ultimate Universe is ending, Marvel still has a chance to introduce new characters. We already know a new Daredevil is coming soon in Ultimate Universe: Year Two #1, and Ultimate Endgame is likely to have a few surprises. There’s still time to create a new team that could keep the spirit of this era of Marvel comics alive even after the Ultimate Universe concludes.
Now’s the Time to Revive Marvel’s Squadron Supreme

Longtime Marvel readers are familiar with the Squadron Supreme. This group of heroes was originally created as a clear imitation of DC Comics’ Justice League. Over the years, Marvel has revisited this concept multiple times, updating the Squadron Supreme. They first appeared as villains called the Squadron Sinister, but were later reimagined as heroes living on an alternate Earth designated as Earth-712. However, this wasn’t the only time Marvel created a team inspired by the Justice League.
Marvel has revisited the Squadron Supreme multiple times, first with a team from Earth-31916 featured in Supreme Power and related comics. Later, they introduced yet another version of the team, this time based on the main Marvel universe (Earth-616). This new team was made up of heroes pulled from different realities. Clearly, Marvel enjoys periodically reimagining the Squadron Supreme.
That’s why launching a new Ultimate Squadron Supreme now would be ideal, especially with the Ultimate Endgame approaching and signaling the end of the Ultimate Universe. This universe has successfully reimagined Marvel characters, their histories, and even team dynamics. Marvel has a fantastic chance to do something special. If they’re truly concluding the Ultimate Universe, they could assemble a new Squadron Supreme composed of heroes who survived the events of Earth-6160.
Marvel’s Ultimate Heroes are Too Good to Lose

It’s disappointing to see the Ultimate Universe come to an end, especially since so many interesting stories and characters – like Ultimate Venom, Maystorm, and Iron Lad – have become popular recently. While Marvel can do what they want, if Miles Morales and the Maker survived the first Ultimate Universe’s destruction, it would be great to see some other beloved characters from this new universe continue their adventures as a new team.
Keeping these characters alive is great, but do they need to become the new Squadron Supreme? They’d share a lot in common with the original team – being the last people from a destroyed world. And the new Ultimate Universe is all about reimagining classic names and concepts. What better way to describe a group of powerful survivors from across the multiverse than with a name that sounds both awesome and fearsome?
Ideally, the Ultimate Universe would continue, but it looks like it’s coming to an end. Now, we can only hope Marvel saves some beloved characters, bringing them into the main Marvel Universe or another alternate world. If that happens, reimagining those survivors as the Ultimate Squadron Supreme would be fantastic. While they’d lose their original world, they could become an incredible team that Marvel fans would really enjoy.
