The classic question, “Mirror, mirror on the wall, who is the fairest of them all?” doesn’t quite fit the recent live-action Snow White film. Despite being one of Disney’s biggest box office disappointments, the movie still has a strong advocate in its star, Rachel Zegler. Compared to other live-action Disney remakes like Pinocchio (2022) and Tim Burton’s Dumbo, Snow White has struggled. While the film faced unfair criticism even before its release, it was quickly followed by negative reviews, fan backlash, and widespread online negativity. Despite all of this, Rachel Zegler remains proud of the film and considers it a success.
Rachel Zegler recently shared her thoughts on the disappointing box office performance of Snow White with Glamour magazine, and talked about her experience making the film. Despite the movie only earning $205 million worldwide – well below its $270 million budget – Zegler expressed her affection for it, saying she’s watched it several times. While $205 million might seem like a lot, the film ultimately didn’t make enough money to be considered a success.
Despite the film’s disappointing performance in theaters, Rachel Zegler considers it a success because of how well it did on streaming. She explained that it quickly became the most-watched title on Disney+, proving it resonated with audiences. While Snow White briefly held the number one spot on Disney+, it didn’t stay there for long. Zegler also shared the most important thing she learned from making the film.
The biggest lesson I learned was to fully appreciate the good moments and remember that even when things are difficult, improvement is possible. What made being involved with Evita so special—aside from the amazing people and work—was realizing I could be part of something truly celebrated, something I never previously believed was within my reach.
Live-Action Disney Remakes Aren’t Stopping Anytime Soon

Disney
Despite the disappointing results of live-action remakes like Dumbo and Snow White, Disney seems determined to continue revisiting its animated classics. As Star Wars fans know, Disney isn’t likely to stop profiting from successful franchises, even if it means repeating familiar stories.
Disney is making a live-action version of Moana, with Catherine Laga’aia as Moana and Dwayne Johnson returning as Maui. After Moana comes out in 2026, they also plan to remake Tangled, Hercules, and even Bambi into live-action films, though those movies haven’t been scheduled for release yet.
