Building on the story established in Age of Calamity – a game that precedes Breath of the Wild – Age of Imprisonment details the events of the Imprisoning War, which Tears of the Kingdom briefly shows us fragments of.

When is the Hyrule Warriors: Age of Imprisonment release date and launch time?
Hyrule Warriors: Age of Imprisonment releases on 6th November 2025 at 12am GMT.
Just to be clear, the game will become available as soon as it’s midnight on November 5th.
Age of Imprisonment is launching at midnight worldwide, so players in New Zealand and Australia will get to start playing before anyone else in the Americas.

Just so you know, if you’re playing from a country with multiple time zones, the game will become available at midnight in the time zone furthest east.
For players in the US, the game will become available at midnight Eastern Time. This means those on the West Coast can start playing at 9 PM Pacific Time on November 5th.
Is Hyrule Warriors: Age of Imprisonment canon?
Hyrule Warriors: Age of Imprisonment is canon.
Unlike the previous game, Age of Calamity, which isn’t considered part of the official Zelda storyline and presents a world where the Calamity is prevented, Age of Imprisonment happens within the established Zelda timeline.
In an April 2025 announcement about the next Nintendo Switch, Nintendo briefly described their upcoming game, Age of Imprisonment, as an official part of the game’s story.
