As a Marvel fan, I’ve been keeping a close watch on the cast for Avengers: Doomsday, and things are getting interesting. Marvel revealed a huge list – 27 actors! – earlier this year, bringing together heroes from the Avengers, Fantastic Four, X-Men, and more to face off against Robert Downey Jr. as Doctor Doom. But the initial announcement left a lot of us scratching our heads – some major players were missing. Now, one of the actors seems to be hinting that a seriously powerful superhero might be joining the fight after all. It definitely sounds like there are still a few surprises up Marvel’s sleeve, and a lot more heroes will be involved than we initially thought.
This includes Captain Marvel, played by Carol Danvers, who first appeared in the Marvel Cinematic Universe in the 2019 film Captain Marvel. She’s since been in Avengers: Endgame, Shang-Chi and the Legend of the Ten Rings, Ms. Marvel, and The Marvels (2023). Brie Larson, the actor who plays Captain Marvel, recently shared a photo on her Instagram story (via @MCUFilmNews) jokingly telling fans to “Ignore the wig!!” The wig is long and blonde, leading many to believe Larson will be returning as Carol Danvers for additional filming on the upcoming Avengers: Doomsday.

What Role Could Captain Marvel Have In Avengers: Doomsday?
Captain Marvel has faced a lot of unfair criticism, but she’s currently one of the most significant and powerful heroes in the Marvel Cinematic Universe. It would be a real loss if she wasn’t part of the next Avengers movie, especially considering her understanding of the MCU’s cosmic side – which will be important to the story – and the fact that she’s now living on Earth. Carol Danvers could easily join Sam Wilson’s new Avengers team and potentially even take a leadership role.
The events of the recent Marvels movie played a key role in building towards the larger Multiverse Saga, and the payoff could arrive in Avengers: Doomsday. During the film, Dar-Benn gained control of the Quantum Bands and unintentionally created a tear in reality. While Monica Rambeau managed to close it, she became stranded on the other side. There, she encountered members of the X-Men – Beast and Binary – which strongly suggests the X-Men will appear in Avengers: Doomsday. However, this depends on Rambeau finding a way back, and it’s likely her friend, Captain Marvel, will be right there with her.
Captain Marvel is incredibly powerful, gaining her abilities after absorbing energy from the Space Stone. This makes her a potential match for Doctor Doom, who is predicted to travel the multiverse in the upcoming Avengers: Doomsday film. Doom plans to stop incursions by destroying alternate realities, but will face opposition from Earth’s heroes. Having already fought Thanos in Endgame, Captain Marvel would be a huge help against Doom, and fans are hoping she returns for the next movie.
