As the inaugural film in a new interconnected movie universe, there’s significant anticipation surrounding director James Gunn’s reboot. Warner Bros. and DC Studios are keenly hoping that “Superman” will be positively received, given the divisive reaction to the previous DC Extended Universe. Now, the first round of reviews for “Superman” have been published on Rotten Tomatoes, with a score of 86% after 87 reviews, making it a Certified Fresh film.
A stellar opening score for the reboot sets it on par with some renowned Superman films, like Superman II (88%) and the original 1978 Superman (86%). Gunn’s Superman score is consistent with his past comic book adaptations. The scores of the Guardians of the Galaxy movies varied between 92% and 82%, while The Suicide Squad earned a 90%.
