It’s high time we make our way back to Wisteria Lane now that it’s been confirmed a fresh take on Desperate Housewives is being developed. This news isn’t all that shocking, given the speculations about a new show for quite some time. Even some of the original cast members of Desperate Housewives, such as Eva Longoria, have expressed their thoughts on returning to the series. Most recently, Kyle MacLachlan has voiced his interest in a reboot, but he’s got one stipulation.
Actor from Twin Peaks, Kyle MacLachlan, joined ABC’s dramedy during its second season as Orson Hodge. With Desperate Housewives potentially returning and cast members frequently asked about it, MacLachlan recently expressed his desire to reprise his role in an interview with People magazine. He also made a compelling argument regarding the Wisteria Lane set, stating:
That’d be fun. I mean, Wisteria Lane still exists on the Universal back lot. It’s part of the tour!
Given that Wisteria Lane continues to stand, resuming the story seems almost effortless. Plus, MacLachlan’s willingness to revive the series adds to the excitement. Yet, he would tread carefully as well. In fact, the actor from ‘Fallout’ has shared his conditions for a comeback, and it’s understandable why: he wants to ensure the reboot meets certain standards.
If Desperate Housewives were to be revived and they asked me to rejoin the cast, I’d need to examine the role carefully to understand their vision for the character. Essentially, I would consider it as a fresh opportunity, weighing my feelings about the role, the character, and the overall process to decide if it’s something I’m interested in pursuing. In other words, I would treat it like any new project that comes my way and make a decision based on that.

As a seasoned movie critic reminiscing about the beloved series “Desperate Housewives,” which concluded its run in 2012 after an impressive eight-season stint, I find myself pondering the potential for a reboot of this iconic show. If such a revival were to materialize, it would undoubtedly necessitate a significant leap forward in time, with Wisteria Lane undergoing transformative changes – residents coming and going, leaving the lane unrecognizable from its former self.
Given these circumstances, it’s no surprise that the talented and enigmatic actor, James Denton (Orson Hodge), might harbor some reservations about reprising his role in this hypothetical continuation. It seems he would approach a potential return with a fresh perspective, distinct from his past performances – but the specifics of how that transformation would manifest remain to be seen. Only time will tell if a revival could successfully capture the magic and charm of the original “Desperate Housewives.
Over the years since its debut in 2004, the TV series “Desperate Housewives” has remained remarkably fresh, so it wouldn’t be shocking if some of the beloved characters were to return in a revival. Moreover, despite some backstage disagreements, the show successfully captured audiences’ attention for quite some time, and a reboot could potentially do the same again.
Despite plans for a new take on “Desperate Housewives”, it remains unclear if the original cast will reunite for a reboot. Though some cast members have shown interest, others like Teri Hatcher seem less enthusiastic. It might be challenging to create a series with only a few of the original actors; however, circumstances can change. On a positive note, all eight seasons of “Desperate Housewives” are available for streaming on Hulu, allowing viewers to revisit Wisteria Lane whenever they wish.
