Jennifer Lawrence and Emma Stone Are Making Miss Piggy Movie

Miss Piggy is finally getting her star moment.

Jennifer Lawrence announced that Miss Piggy, the famous Muppet known for her relationship with Kermit the Frog, will star in her own movie. Lawrence is producing the film alongside her close friend, Emma Stone, and Tony Award winner Cole Escola, who will also write the script. Escola is known for his work on the Broadway show Oh, Mary!

Jennifer revealed on the November 5th episode of the Las Culturistas podcast, co-hosted by Bowen Yang and Matt Rogers, that she and Emma Stone are producing a movie about Miss Piggy, with Cole writing the script.

Jennifer and Emma will have roles on screen, not just work behind the scenes. When the hosts asked if they’d appear in the movie, Jennifer said they definitely would need to be in it.

That same evening, Jennifer discussed the origins of the idea with Jimmy Fallon. Although 2025 is the 70th anniversary of the puppets, the project started developing about five years prior.

Jennifer recalled that during lockdown, a friend of hers—who doesn’t work in entertainment—joked that it would be hilarious if Miss Piggy faced a ‘cancel culture’ situation. This happened around the time discussions about cancel culture were also gaining traction.

The audience continued to laugh, and she added, “That’s not necessarily the main story, but it made me think: why hasn’t anyone made a movie starring a feminist Miss Piggy?”

Oh my gosh, you guys, she basically admitted she’s the one with all the brilliant ideas, but she needs Emma – the Emma, my queen! – to actually make it happen. It’s going to be the first time they’ve ever shared the screen together, which is HUGE! And get this – it’s the first time we’re getting a whole movie dedicated just to Miss Piggy’s story since she burst onto the scene in 1976 with The Muppet Show! I’m seriously losing it, this is everything I’ve ever wanted!

There’s more Muppet content on the way! In September, Disney+ revealed that The Muppet Show will make a comeback in 2026 to celebrate its 50th anniversary. The special event will feature singer Sabrina Carpenter.

As a lifestyle expert, I’m thrilled to share some exciting news! The Muppets are back! This new project, brought to us by The Muppets Studio and Point Grey Pictures, will see Kermit, Piggy, Fozzie, Gonzo, and all our favorite Muppets returning to the Muppet Theatre. Get ready for a classic variety show – think music, laughs, and, of course, a whole lot of delightful chaos! It’s going to be a fun ride, and I, for one, can’t wait!
