One of the directors involved with the upcoming Marvel movie, The Fantastic Four: First Steps, says the film went through some revisions before being shown to the public.
What changes were made on The Fantastic Four: First Steps?
So, I was chatting with Michael Giacchino – you probably know him from the music in ‘First Steps’ and his directing gig on the ‘Werewolf by Night’ special – and he told me a pretty wild story. Apparently, after seeing the finished cut of the movie, he felt like the score just didn’t work. He ended up having to completely rewrite the entire thing! Can you imagine? Starting over on a full movie score after all that work? It just shows how much he cares about getting everything perfect.
Giacchino revealed he composed an entire additional score for the movie that may never be released. He explained that after initially seeing the film with music, he felt something wasn’t quite working.
Giacchino composed the music before filming officially began. He had even completed the main musical themes for the characters Galactus and the Silver Surfer by the time the cameras started rolling.
Composer Michael Giacchino explained that director Matt Shakman brought a clear vision to the set, which really helped the cast and crew understand the overall feel of the project. Giacchino believes filmmakers should collaborate with composers early in the process – ideally, hiring them to create a musical suite before filming begins – so everyone shares a common understanding of the movie’s tone and style from the very start.
Pedro Pascal will play Reed Richards, Vanessa Kirby will be Sue Storm, Joseph Quinn is Johnny Storm, and Ebon Moss-Bachrach will portray Ben Grimm in the new Fantastic Four movie, titled ‘First Steps’. Ralph Ineson will play Galactus, and Julia Garner will take on the role of Shalla-Bal/Silver Surfer. Paul Walter Hauser, John Malkovich, and Natasha Lyonne are also in the film, though their characters haven’t been revealed yet.
Marvel Studios’ new movie, The Fantastic Four: First Steps, follows Marvel’s First Family as they tackle their biggest adventure so far. The story is set in a colorful, retro-futuristic world inspired by the 1960s.
Kevin Feige is the producer for this project. Louis D’Esposito, Grant Curtis, and Tim Lewis are executive producers, and Mitch Bell is a co-producer. Michael Giacchino composed the music.
The Fantastic Four: First Steps is available to watch now at home.
