Live television is making a comeback! In 2025, it’s surprisingly special to gather and watch something with the country, all on the edge of our seats, to see who wins—like with the final episode of ‘The Celebrity Traitors‘ and its last five contestants.
So, after starting with 19 players, only five remained in the castle – two Traitors and three Faithful. The game quickly became about forming alliances. Joe and Nick were so closely aligned, plotting to eliminate everyone else, that I actually hoped one of them was a Traitor! But the highlight of the night came when Nick unexpectedly joined forces with the others to banish Joe – you could probably hear the shouting from next door!
That moment was just a prelude to the show’s biggest surprise: Alan Carr was revealed as the last remaining Traitor. He confessed, almost regretfully, “I am, and have always been, a Traitor.” The reactions were intense – Nick was stunned, David was disappointed, and Alan himself was in tears. In a surprising turn, the two Faithful players ended up comforting him as he celebrated his victory. It was truly captivating television.

After another easy win in the daytime challenges – proving the celebrities are much better at physical tasks than spotting the Traitors – the show moved to its next-to-last Round Table discussion. It’s clear the show is delivering on its promise of unexpected twists when even a leading historian, David Olusuga, was manipulated and used as a pawn. He found himself caught between the Faithful players Joe and Nick, who were trying to outsmart the suspected Traitors, Alan and Cat.
Olosuga’s extensive education and knowledge weren’t enough to help him recognize or prevent the deception happening around him – and that’s not entirely his fault. Ultimately, Joe’s determination led to Cat being removed, but that same drive backfired during the final Round Table. Alan skillfully used his persuasive abilities to exploit existing doubts about Joe, paving the way for his own victory.
After five weeks and nine episodes, the first season has come to a close. The show featured memorable highlights, including Celia Imrie’s sharp comedic skills, Claire Balding’s amusingly failed attempt at a physical challenge, and a surprisingly deadlocked competition between David and Mark Bonnar. However, the most lasting impressions were made by Alan, who shone brightly in both the opening and closing moments of the series.
There were two particularly memorable moments involving the third Traitor. First, everyone – even his fellow conspirators – burst out laughing when he was first discovered. The second was when his betrayal was finally revealed to the Faithful, a moment that quickly became a popular joke online. The way he openly and cheerfully carried out his deception set the mood for the entire show. His charisma likely explained why the Faithful were so slow to realize who the Traitors were, and also why they were so willing to forgive him. In the end, he appeared vulnerable, humorous, and no longer a threat, providing a perfect conclusion to a series that proved a celebrity cast wouldn’t compromise the show’s core concept – betrayal and trust. Now that it’s over, what will we all do with our time?
