The popular heroes in a half-shell are about to jump into a multiversal tournament in IDW Publishing’s new five-issue series, Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles: Battle Nexus. It’ll pit the Turtles from the current IDW comic series against versions of themselves and other characters from throughout the franchise’s history. The upcoming Battle Nexus will bring together different generations of Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles, including the popular designs from the 1990 live-action movies. These classic looks are fantastic, and they’re even more exciting when combined with the brighter, more playful style of the Tales of the Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles. Seeing these two distinct art styles collide is truly impressive.
Things really heat up when the Turtles from 2012 face off against the 2003 version, and we throw in some wacky Stump Wrestling action—all happening in a wrestling ring! It’s a dream come true for any longtime Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles fan, with even more awesome crossovers from different TMNT universes.
The new series will feature a wide range of Turtles, including the original black and white Mirage Shredder and the 2012 Metalhead. Fans can also anticipate the return of Slash from the IDW comics, along with the first appearance of Ninjara in the IDW universe – making this a really exciting release for long-time followers.
Every issue of Battle Nexus will include a main story and a short, one-page backup story showcasing alternate versions of the Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles in action. The first issue boasts the creative team of writer Tom Waltz, artists the Escorza brothers, and colorist Luis Antonio Delgado.
