Prime Video on Amazon has a lot of popular movies available right now, including blockbusters like Bruce Almighty, Casino Royale, Raiders of the Lost Ark, and Twisters. You’ll also find some well-loved classic films – some were hits when they came out and gained even more fans over time, while others found their audience later on, like Tremors, The Howling, and The Stepfather. But what about the good movies that never really got the attention they deserved? Here are a few that deserve a bigger fanbase, not necessarily films that were failures, but just ones that haven’t gotten enough love.

7) The Negotiator
Despite its length of 140 minutes, The Negotiator is a fast-moving and cleverly constructed thriller. Samuel L. Jackson and Kevin Spacey both deliver excellent performances, and the film features a strong supporting cast including Dean Norris, Paul Giamatti, John Spencer (from The West Wing), and the late J.T. Walsh – a remarkably talented character actor who arguably gave one of his best performances in this film.
Michael Jackson plays Danny Roman, a skilled Chicago police hostage negotiator. When his partner suspects someone in their unit is stealing money, the partner is then murdered, and Roman becomes the prime suspect for both the embezzlement and the killing. Desperate to prove his innocence, Roman takes a lead inspector from Internal Affairs hostage, initiating a tense standoff. He refuses to negotiate with anyone except Chris Sabian, another hostage negotiator from a different police precinct, hoping Sabian can help uncover the truth behind the corruption within his former unit.
6) Charlie Bartlett
Starring the talented Anton Yelchin, Charlie Bartlett perfectly showcases his natural charm and endearing innocence. The film also features strong performances from future Marvel stars Robert Downey Jr. (just before he became Iron Man), Kat Dennings, and Hope Davis, making it a standout comedy from the late 2000s.
I’m really fascinated by this movie! It follows a guy named Bartlett, played by Yelchin, who keeps getting kicked out of fancy private schools. His parents finally send him to public school, but it’s run by this really jaded principal, Mr. Gardner (Downey Jr.), and Bartlett still doesn’t quite fit in. Then he comes up with this crazy plan to pretend to be a therapist and pharmacist – he uses his family’s connections to doctors to fake illnesses and emotional problems. It actually works! He starts making money and, surprisingly, becomes popular. But, naturally, his scheme doesn’t stay secret for long, and he ends up in a showdown with the principal.
5) The Iceman
While The Iceman isn’t a top-tier gangster film – it doesn’t quite offer a fresh perspective – it provides Michael Shannon with a fantastic leading role, and he delivers a compelling performance, as you’d expect from such a talented actor.
I was completely captivated by this movie, which tells the story of Richard Kuklinski, also known as the Iceman. It’s incredible—he started out working with adult films, but quickly climbed the ranks, eventually leading a whole crew of burglars. But what really made him infamous, and earned him that chilling nickname, was his work as a truly cold-blooded hitman. It’s a wild story!
4) The Monster Squad
Fred Dekker’s The Monster Squad, written by Dekker (following his work on Night of the Creeps) and Shane Black (of Lethal Weapon fame), is a unique mix of genres that both kids and adults enjoy. It’s the ultimate movie for anyone who loves the classic Universal monster films like Dracula, The Creature from the Black Lagoon, and The Wolf Man.
The classic monsters – like Frankenstein and the Mummy – really are in this movie! But it’s not just them; there’s also a charming group of young heroes who feel a lot like the characters from The Goonies. While it wasn’t a hit when it came out in 1987, The Monster Squad has earned its dedicated fanbase, and it’s likely to gain even more fans over time.
3) Judgment Night
Stephen Hopkins’ Judgment Night is a gripping action-thriller from the ’90s. The story centers around a group of friends heading to a boxing match in Chicago in an RV. Their trip takes a dark turn when they take a shortcut and witness a man, Teddy, being brutally murdered by three criminals. Now, the friends are on the run, as the killers decide to eliminate the witnesses.
The movie Judgment Night is a dark and intense thriller where you genuinely feel like anyone could be in danger. It features a cast full of familiar faces from the 1990s, like Emilio Estevez, Cuba Gooding Jr., Stephen Dorff, and Jeremy Piven, who all play their roles well. However, the film truly shines with its villains, led by Denis Leary. He’s incredibly menacing as the drug lord Fallon, a character with a quick temper and a frightening presence, and he’s supported by Peter Greene, known for making memorable villains, as seen in The Mask.
2) Harley Davidson and the Marlboro Man
Released in the 1990s, Harley Davidson and the Marlboro Man is a uniquely strange action film. It stars Don Johnson and Mickey Rourke in an unlikely but entertaining duo. However, what really sets this movie apart – and makes it a favorite for late-night viewings – is its wildly unconventional and quirky style.
This action film features two friends who ride motorcycles and are hired to rob an armored truck. Their motive isn’t greed, though – they’re trying to save their favorite bar from being closed down by the bank. However, the heist goes wrong when they mistakenly steal a powerful new drug, attracting the attention of a dangerous crime boss and his enforcers. Expect plenty of action and humorous back-and-forth, but be warned – the dialogue relies heavily on familiar tropes.
1) Black Friday
Released in the early 2020s, Black Friday is a funny and spooky horror movie that didn’t get much attention, despite being a clever satire of consumer culture and featuring a fantastic cast of horror veterans. The film stars Bruce Campbell (known from Evil Dead and clearly enjoying himself), Michael Jai White (Spawn), Ivana Baquero (Pan’s Labyrinth), Ryan Lee (Super 8), and Devon Sawa (Final Destination).
This movie centers on the staff of an All-Mart store as they playfully interact before the busy holiday shopping season begins. However, their preparations are disrupted when a strange parasite transforms eager shoppers into aggressive, zombie-like creatures – and the All-Mart employees become the targets. Black Friday delivers classic monster movie thrills, but its strength lies in its well-developed and engaging characters.
