There’s been a lot of talk about how the launch of Embark’s ARC Raiders might clash with Battlefield 6, but the game is proving surprisingly popular. Over the weekend, ARC Raiders hit a new high on Steam with over 416,000 players playing at the same time.
For a short time, ARC Raiders managed to exceed the peak player count of EA’s largest Battlefield game. Battlefield quickly reclaimed the lead with 426,535 concurrent players in a 24-hour period. However, it’s worth noting that Battlefield’s total includes players of Battlefield: RedSec, the new free-to-play battle royale, making ARC Raiders’ performance even more noteworthy.
Although Battlefield 6 quickly sold over seven million copies in just three days, Embark hasn’t shared any sales numbers for their game yet. Recent reports suggest around 2.5 million units were sold in the first week, generating over $100 million in revenue. And there’s more to come, with a new map (Stella Montis), ARC machines, weapons, and quests planned for release later this month.
I’m really curious to see how people react to this new game on Steam, especially compared to Call of Duty: Black Ops 7 which comes out on November 14th. Even though Call of Duty HQ is super popular on consoles here in the US, I’ve heard that pre-orders for the new Call of Duty were way behind Battlefield 6 by the end of October. It’ll be interesting to see if Steam numbers tell a different story!
