Hawkeye Star Confirms Return In Daredevil: Born Again (& Drops A Major Story Hint)

The new Marvel series, Daredevil: Born Again, is bringing a grittier, street-level focus to the Marvel Cinematic Universe. An actor who previously appeared in Hawkeye has confirmed he’ll be returning for the show’s second season. The first season of Daredevil focused on Wilson Fisk’s rise to power as the Mayor of New York City and his subsequent crackdown on vigilantes, arresting many and even ordering the assassination of others. A new vigilante who was first introduced in Hawkeye will reappear in the upcoming season.

Tony Dalton, who played Jack Duquesne in Hawkeye and appeared in the first season of Daredevil: Born Again, recently confirmed he’ll be back for Season 2. Jack Duquesne is a wealthy man with a secret life as the Swordsman, a skilled fighter. His reveal in Hawkeye was unexpected, and in Daredevil: Born Again, Wilson Fisk discovered Jack’s true identity and had him imprisoned.

During an interview, Tony Dalton revealed he’ll be returning for the second season of Daredevil while discussing the physically demanding nature of filming action scenes. He explained he suffered an injury – possibly a chipped rib – while shooting, leaving him bedridden for two or three weeks with significant bruising. He emphasized the intensity of the stunts and the dedication of the stunt team.

Swordsman Returning is Exciting News For Daredevil: Born Again

As a long-time Marvel fan, I was genuinely thrilled to see Swordsman pop up in Daredevil: Born Again. It’s a clever way to tie Daredevil’s world to what we saw in Hawkeye, which is always a treat. It really made sense considering Wilson Fisk’s appearance in that Hawkeye series – it turns out his connection to Kate Bishop’s mom was key to uncovering the truth about Jack Duquesne. And that’s what brought Swordsman into the story! Fisk was clearly trying to build a network of wealthy people like Jack, hoping to gain their financial backing and influence. But Jack wasn’t having it, and ultimately ended up behind bars with the other vigilantes.

The interview suggests Swordsman will participate in major action scenes in Daredevil: Born Again Season 2, though the extent of his role is still unknown. There are two possibilities, one more probable than the other. Given that Swordsman and the Punisher were both imprisoned in the same location last season, he could be involved in the upcoming prison break. With the Punisher already confirmed to be escaping, he might orchestrate a mass breakout, and Swordsman could use his abilities to assist.

Swordsman will probably be a key character throughout the series. However, he might also reappear later when Daredevil starts building a team to take down the corrupt police and Kingpin, who are trying to keep Wilson Fisk in power by hiding his true nature from New York City. Currently, it looks like Daredevil will be teaming up with Jessica Jones, and may work with the Punisher again. The new White Tiger is also expected to be involved in the final showdown.
