As a DC fan, I’m thrilled to see some real movement on the Batman side of things! We haven’t heard much about what’s happening in Gotham for a while now, but it sounds like one of the projects we’ve been waiting for is finally getting the green light. This is a big step forward for what looks to be a really ambitious new movie, and it’s exciting to see DC expanding its Gotham-focused stories.
Dynamic Duo receives casting update
DC Studios’ creative leads, James Gunn and Peter Safran – often referred to as the ‘Dynamic Duo’ – have started casting actors for the new Batman movie, which is the first major news about the project in several months.
Swaybox Studios announced on Instagram that they’ll begin accepting online auditions on November 15, 2025. They’re looking for performers for animated roles using puppets and playfully asked if anyone has ever wanted to be in a DC Studios film.
The first look at the upcoming DC film, titled Dynamic Duo, was revealed in a short clip. This footage was released over two and a half years before the movie is set to come out. The clip shows a car driving through a rainy city and ultimately crashing into a concrete pillar.
I just saw some behind-the-scenes footage from the upcoming Batman project, and it looks incredible! It’s a really cool mix of stop-motion animation, computer-generated imagery, and practical puppetry – they’re really going for a unique look to bring Gotham City to life. It was part of the announcement for open casting calls, so it seems like things are really moving forward!
Arthur Mintz is directing “Dynamic Duo,” a project from Matt Reeves’ 6th & Idaho production company, which was announced in October 2024. Scott Neustadter and Michael H. Weber are currently working on the script. The story centers on Dick Grayson and Jason Todd, the original two Robins, and their early days working together in Gotham City.
James Gunn discussed where the film fits within the new DC Universe, saying there’s a possibility it could be included. He expressed his desire for the animated movie to be part of the DCU, but acknowledged its distinct story might make that difficult. (Source: Screen Rant)
