Troy Baker recently spoke about working with Neil Druckmann again on Naughty Dog’s upcoming game, Intergalactic: The Heretic Prophet. Naughty Dog is known as one of the industry’s top developers, alongside companies like Rockstar Games, because they consistently deliver high-quality games. While Naughty Dog has a long history, they became truly renowned with the Uncharted and The Last of Us series. These games are praised for their exciting gameplay and cinematic storytelling, which sets them apart from other action games and offers an immersive, movie-like experience.
Naughty Dog, the studio behind popular games like The Last of Us, is setting its sights on a new adventure: a space-based game called Intergalactic: The Heretic Prophet. Revealed at The Game Awards last year after a long period of quiet, this project represents a fresh direction for the developers, as some fans were anticipating The Last of Us Part 3. Details are currently limited, but we know the game will center around a bounty hunter tracking a criminal organization on a distant planet. Intergalactic is still a ways off, likely a couple of years from release, so more information will be revealed over time.
Intergalactic: The Heretic Prophet Star Troy Baker Talks Working With Neil Druckmann Again and Not Playing the Lead

egmr.ru recently had the chance to interview actor Troy Baker about his part in the new Screamer reboot. I also asked him one question about Intergalactic, but knowing how careful PlayStation and Naughty Dog are with secrets, I avoided asking for any spoilers. I simply asked about his experience working with Neil Druckmann again.
This duo has collaborated on three games before, and they have a distinctive way of working together. Both are incredibly dedicated to their projects, which sometimes leads to intense discussions during development – but always with the goal of crafting the best possible narrative. Since Intergalactic is a new story and Baker plays a supporting character rather than the lead, I wondered if this project sparked fewer disagreements. Baker chuckled, confirming that he and Druckmann still have their usual, spirited debates.
Baker explained that he and Neil often playfully argue, saying it’s just part of their dynamic. He described a recent incident during a script reading where they were disagreeing, and it felt like a family squabble to everyone else. Despite the tension, Baker insisted they’re doing okay and everything is fine.
Baker acknowledges he isn’t the star of Intergalactic, but he’s happy to contribute to the game’s development as a team player. He aims to be a collaborator that others enjoy working with.
Looking back, I’ve had an incredible career and feel grateful for everything. I don’t feel entitled to anything more from this industry. I’m at a point where I appreciate the process of making games more than any awards or praise. Some of my most valuable learning experiences came from projects that weren’t huge successes – they didn’t win any major awards, but I gained so much knowledge. My real reward wasn’t money or recognition, but the growth I experienced. I’m happy with where I am now, and I still believe my role at Intergalactic is important.
He explained that he wants a gaming career similar to George Clooney’s, admiring Clooney’s ability to take on diverse roles, both leading and supporting.
Baker said he aspires to have a career like George Clooney’s, hoping to create iconic films similar to O Brother, Where Art Thou? and Michael Clayton, and even direct projects of his own. He admires Clooney’s talent and believes the reason people consistently want to collaborate with him – on films like Oceans 11, Up in the Air, and The American – is his ability and overall appeal.
Ultimately, my main goal is to help a team successfully complete a game, improve its quality, and enjoy the process. As long as I can achieve that, and still cover my expenses, I feel like I’ve done my job, and that’s what I strive for in every project.
