Prince William Reveals Prince George Wants a Cell Phone

Prince William is expressing his relatable parenting concern.

Prince William shared that he and Kate Middleton have been discussing getting cell phones with their children – 12-year-old Prince George, 10-year-old Princess Charlotte, and 7-year-old Prince Louis. He admitted it’s become a difficult topic, especially with George, their oldest child.

Prince William recently shared that his children, including Prince George, don’t currently have cell phones. He mentioned that when George starts high school, he might get a phone, but it wouldn’t have internet access, during an interview with Brazilian TV host Luciano Huck to promote the Earthshot Prize.

Although he and Kate haven’t changed their minds, their pre-teen son is beginning to feel a bit annoyed.

Honestly, things are starting to get a bit strained,” he said. “But I believe he understands our reasons. We’ve explained why we don’t agree with it.

Prince William and Kate, married since 2011, are making this decision to safeguard their children online.

He explained his main concern was internet access, worrying that children can easily find inappropriate content online. He feels simpler phones – the older, basic models – are perfectly acceptable.

Oh my gosh, you guys, Prince George is growing up so fast! He hasn’t gotten a phone yet, thankfully, but he’s already making official appearances! I nearly screamed when I saw pictures of him at the Festival of Remembrance on November 8th with his mom, Kate! He looked SO grown up in a little black suit – a perfect match for Kate’s stunning black dress. They were just the cutest pair, honestly! I’m so proud!

Now that George is becoming more prominent as he takes on royal duties, his father has been keen to instill in him a sense of pride in the family’s contributions.

I was really touched by what William said to Eugene Levy on The Reluctant Traveler. He explained that, beyond everything else, he wants to build something that makes his son proud, and more importantly, something that genuinely makes a positive difference in people’s lives. It’s clear he’s thinking about more than just the work itself – he wants to create a lasting, meaningful impact.

And he looks back on his and Prince Harry’s experiences growing up in the public eye.

He also expressed hope that they wouldn’t repeat past issues that he and Prince Harry experienced while growing up, and stated he’ll work to prevent a return to those circumstances.
