Okay, so this is pretty cool. ITV is letting us, the viewers, actually influence what happens in the big ‘Corriedale’ crossover episode between Coronation Street and Emmerdale! They’ve launched a digital campaign where we get to make some choices that will directly impact the storyline. It’s a really interesting way to get fans involved and I’m genuinely curious to see how it plays out – and whether our decisions will lead to total chaos or a surprisingly smooth integration of these two iconic soaps.
Fans of Coronation Street and Emmerdale have a lot to look forward to! A special episode is starting a new schedule for both shows in the New Year. From 8pm every weeknight, you can watch all the drama unfold in Weatherfield and the Yorkshire Dales. Episodes will still be available on ITVX from 7am each morning.
Not much is known about the upcoming crossover episode, but in a unique and engaging twist, the shows are letting fans decide which characters will meet and interact with each other.
Okay, so as a soap fan, I’m hearing that John Sugden – you might remember him as a bit of a bad boy – is likely coming back to Coronation Street. Apparently, someone spotted Oliver Farnworth, the actor who played him, hanging around the police station set during filming, so it seems they’re planning something with his character. It’s exciting to think he’ll be involved in a big storyline!
Last month, Lisa Swain, played by Vicky Myers, and Aaron Dingle, played by Danny Miller, were the first contestants officially announced. Since then, actors Jack P. Shepherd, Claire Sweeney, and Johnny McPherson have also confirmed they’ll be participating.
It’s still unclear exactly how these two worlds will come together, but the fan-favorite characters are likely to have a dedicated scene that can be filmed and seamlessly integrated into the larger story.
Yesterday, both soaps announced on social media how fans can participate, sharing a video featuring cast members Lisa Riley, Jane Hazlegrove, Vinta Morgan, and Michael Parr with details.
