Great news for Doctor Who fans! Karen Gillan and Arthur Darvill, who famously played Amy Pond and Rory Williams, are teaming up for a new podcast where they’ll share stories and memories from their time on the show.
Karen Gillan and Arthur Darvill won over viewers playing Amy Pond and Rory Williams, the beloved companions to Matt Smith’s Doctor. Now, they’re returning to the world of Doctor Who with a new podcast called The Pondcast.
It happened a long time ago, and many details have faded, but it shaped who we are today. Now, we can look back on it with fondness and celebrate its impact.
I haven’t even seen all of it yet, so we’re planning to watch it again and discuss it. We’ve already recorded a few episodes, and it’s been a lot of fun. It’s mostly just Karen and me having a good time, so I’m not sure how much new information people will learn, but it’s been great to look back and remember everything.
He admits to being a little nervous about rewatching the episodes, but since it was filmed so long ago, it feels like he’s watching someone else. He’s generally prepared for it, having already seen most of the footage, though there are still some episodes that will be completely new to him.
The Pondcast doesn’t have a release date yet, but the hosts have already recorded some episodes. Steven Moffat, who used to run the show, even joined them for one! Keep an eye out for updates – it’s coming soon.
Karen Gillan and Matt Smith first played Amy Pond and Rory Williams in the Doctor Who episode ‘The Eleventh Hour’ during season five. They stayed with the show until their emotional departure in ‘The Angels Take Manhattan’.
Both actors have publicly said they’d love to reprise their roles on Doctor Who. Gillan recently stated she’d return as Amy Pond, but only if her former co-stars, Smith and Darvill, were also involved.
We had such a great time filming that we all agreed we wouldn’t want to revisit it – we didn’t want to risk spoiling the good memories. But now, it feels like we’ve all moved on to different projects and paths.
Sometimes it’s tough to dwell on the past, but looking back, it was a really important and enjoyable experience – probably the most fun I’ve had with anything. I definitely wouldn’t want to dismiss the possibility of revisiting it.
