Sally Kirkland, Oscar-Nominated Star of Anna, Dies At 84

Sally Kirkland, known for her role in the film Anna and other movies like Cold Feet, The Haunted, Best of the Best, and JFK, passed away on November 11th at the age of 84. She received an Oscar nomination and won a Golden Globe award for her performance in Anna (1987), and was again nominated for a Golden Globe in 1992 for The Haunted.

According to People magazine, actress Shelley Kirkland passed away on November 11th at the age of 84 after battling dementia this year. She recently fell and injured her foot and ribs, leading to her entering hospice care over the weekend. Throughout the past year, she also experienced fractures in her neck, hip, and wrist, and dealt with two serious infections.

Last month, a GoFundMe campaign was started to help cover the actress’s growing medical bills. She lost her supplemental insurance through SAG-AFTRA, leaving her with expenses she couldn’t manage. Unfortunately, she also experienced financial hardship after the 2007 economic crisis, reportedly due to poor advice from a financial advisor, which meant she couldn’t depend on income from her acting career.
