Sony is releasing a more affordable, Japan-exclusive version of the PS5 to boost sales in its home country.
The latest PlayStation console hasn’t been performing as well as the Nintendo Switch in Japan, but the release of a Japanese-language-only version appears to be a strategy directly borrowed from Nintendo.
The new system will cost around ¥55,000 (about $350), which is a considerable price drop from the current ¥72,980 ($473) price of the Digital Edition.
The Digital Edition PlayStation will be available in Japan starting November 21st, featuring 825GB of storage. Sony is hoping this new version will boost sales in the region, especially after recent price hikes.
