Koei Tecmo recently gave fans a fresh look at the remake of Fatal Frame II: Crimson Butterfly. Originally released in 2003 for PlayStation 2 (and later Xbox), Fatal Frame II is often considered the highlight of the Fatal Frame series. Though not as famous as games like Resident Evil or Silent Hill, Fatal Frame II has a dedicated fanbase, making this remake highly anticipated.
Koei Tecmo recently announced a remake of Fatal Frame II: Crimson Butterfly, coming to PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X/S, Nintendo Switch 2, and PC. Today, a new trailer revealed the game’s release date: March 12, 2026.
Koei Tecmo is completely rebuilding Fatal Frame II for this remake, meaning players can expect significantly improved graphics, sound, and gameplay. However, the developers are also committed to preserving the original game’s atmosphere and feel, ensuring it remains true to its roots.
