Jessa Duggar isn’t skimming over this update.
The star of 19 Kids and Counting explained she had to significantly change her diet after noticing a rash on her 4-month-old son, Edward, and her husband, Ben Seewald.
Jessa shared an update about her son, Edward, saying he’s developed a rash. In a YouTube video posted on November 10th, she explained it resembles cradle cap, but doctors have determined it’s something else.
The 33-year-old explained that cradle cap, a common baby skin condition with “crusty or oily, scaly patches” on the scalp (according to the Mayo Clinic), usually doesn’t cause itching. However, the rashes her baby, Edward, had were itchy.
Jessa, who shares five children—Spurgeon, 9, Henry, 8, Ivy, 6, Fern, 4, and George, 22 months—with Ben, decided to stop eating dairy. She hopes this dietary change will benefit her baby, Edward, while he’s breastfeeding.
Henry used to get a rash – eczema – on his head, in his armpits, and in all his skin folds. When I stopped giving him dairy at around four months old, the rash completely went away. I’m hoping Edward’s skin issues are the same thing, so I’m trying a dairy-free diet for him too.
The reality star has already noticed an improvement, saying the baby’s skin was much clearer after only a week.
The rash on his chest is still present, but his head is healing nicely,” she said. “I suspect dairy could be the problem, though that’s not ideal.

Jessa expressed sadness about not being able to enjoy dairy products, explaining that it felt disheartening because her 33rd birthday was on November 4th and she couldn’t celebrate with treats like ice cream or coffee.
I stopped drinking coffee because when I eliminated dairy while Henry was little, I tried the milk alternatives, but I didn’t like them. It just wasn’t as enjoyable as having my coffee with real milk.
Even though she missed her daily coffee, Michelle and Jim Bob Duggar’s daughter said taking a break from caffeine was probably a good thing, explaining that it’s healthy to reset occasionally.

Jessa mentioned that cutting out dairy has been a bit challenging, especially when dining out, as she and Ben recently celebrated their 11th wedding anniversary.
She admitted she constantly double-checks ingredients, wondering if something contains hidden dairy like butter. While she doesn’t have a serious allergy like celiac disease, she explained that a baby developing a rash from a reaction is definitely concerning.

This couple, who began dating in high school, are now parents to nineteen children and grandparents to more than thirty-six grandchildren.
I remember hearing Michelle talk about how she accepted Christ when she was fifteen. It was such a cool story! Apparently, Jim Bob was going door-to-door for his church, just sharing his faith. A friend mentioned that Michelle, a cheerleader who’d recently been ‘saved,’ lived with her family, so he ended up at their door that night. It was just one of those things – a simple act that really impacted her life.
Jim Bob invited Michelle to Sunday school and hoped they could become each other’s spiritual guides, though Michelle doesn’t recall their first meeting being particularly memorable. A year later, she applied for a job at the frozen yogurt shop run by Jim Bob’s parents. In a 2017 blog post for Jim Bob’s birthday and their 33rd anniversary, Michelle recalled approaching her at the cash register and introducing himself. He was shy but kind, and after working up his courage, he finally asked her to the junior-senior banquet!
They first met at a dinner held at Shiloh Christian, but Michelle knew something special was happening when they spent hours talking about the Bible at her parents’ home afterward. As Michelle recalls, that’s when they truly connected. They graduated high school in May 1984 and were married just two months later in July. Michelle was 17, and Jim Bob was 19.

The couple dedicated themselves to God and each other for the long run.
Jim Bob previously served as a state representative for Arkansas’s sixth district from 1999 to 2002, where he was also vice chair of the House Corrections and Criminal Law Subcommittee. He ran for U.S. Senate in 2002, but didn’t win the primary. He also sought the Republican nomination for Arkansas State Senate District 35 in 2006, but was unsuccessful.
Jim Bob and Michelle Duggar are both licensed real estate agents and have long been involved in conservative political and social causes. This aspect of their lives has made them both strong advocates for and faced criticism regarding their show, 19 Kids and Counting (originally titled 17 Kids and Counting when it began in 2008).
As of October 2024, they were grandparents of 33 with three on the way.

Josh Duggar, the oldest of the Duggar children, was born on March 3, 1988. Like his parents, he became involved in conservative activism, working with the Family Research Council.
As a longtime follower, it was incredibly difficult to learn about the allegations against Josh. Back in 2015, old police records came out detailing accusations that he’d harmed several girls, including his sisters, Jessa and Jill, when he was a teenager. It was a really tough time, and I remember Jessa actually sat down with Fox News that June to defend him. She strongly stated that the accusations being thrown at him were extreme and untrue, and bravely shared that she was actually one of the victims herself, which was a shocking thing to hear.

His wife, Anna Duggar, whom he married on September 26, 2008, in a ceremony shown on the show 19 Kids and Counting, remained supportive, even after he confessed to infidelity.
In 2016, when he began treatment, his parents described it as an important start to his recovery.
Anna and her husband have seven children: Mackynzie (born October 8, 2009), Michael (June 15, 2011), Marcus (June 2, 2013), Meredith (July 16, 2015), Mason Garett (September 12, 2017), Maryella Hope (November 27, 2019), and Madyson Lily (October 23, 2021). Meredith was born on the same day TLC canceled 19 Kids.
In April 2021, Josh was indicted on federal charges of receiving and possessing child pornography, and he initially pleaded not guilty. In 2022, he was convicted on both counts, though the judge later dismissed the possession charge. He received a prison sentence of 12.5 years.

Soon after Josh arrived, Michelle became pregnant again, but sadly had a miscarriage. While they were still mourning that loss and seeking direction, Michelle and Jim Bob were overjoyed to discover they were expecting twins.
It felt like a wonderful gift from God, a real encouragement to us,” she shared. “We’re still figuring things out as we go. It’s quite rare, because I nurse my babies, but they are very close in age – I have one baby, then get pregnant again just eight months later. It’s just another unique aspect of what God is doing in our lives.
John David Duggar and his twin sister Jana Duggar were born on Jan. 12, 1990.

John David and Abbie-Grace Burnett married on November 3, 2018, after a quick romance and engagement. They had known each other for several years before officially meeting at a church event in Abbie’s home state of Oklahoma.
They welcomed daughter Grace Annette Duggar on Jan. 7, 2020 and son Charlie Duggar in September 2022.
On their 30th birthday in January 2020, Jana shared a heartfelt message about her and John. People had always asked if they shared a special ‘twin connection’ – that feeling of knowing what the other is thinking or feeling. Jana had always said no, but she explained that when their daughter, Gracie, was born, she felt just as much joy as John did. She jokingly concluded that maybe that ‘twin thing’ was actually real!
Jana said it was lovely seeing them and Abbie as parents, adding that they were natural at it. She also pointed out that all the qualities that made him a great brother would make him a fantastic dad too.

Jana watched eleven of her eighteen siblings get married before she met her husband, Stephen Wissmann. Stephen’s sister, Hannah, is married to Jana’s brother, Jeremiah. Although she sometimes felt frustrated by the wait, Jana believes everything happened according to God’s plan.
Jana recently shared with People magazine that she didn’t always see the long-term plan, but she trusts that God has a good reason for everything. That’s why she’s choosing to get married later in life. She believes everyone’s path is unique, and if everyone followed the same timeline, life would be pretty dull.
Just over a year later, the couple shared that they’re expecting their first baby.

Jill Dillard (born May 17, 1991) met her husband, Derick, in a way similar to how her parents met. He visited the Duggar family home in December 2011 while caroling with his church group, and they soon connected. Derick grew up about 45 minutes from the Duggars.
Jim Bob introduced Jill and Derick, and they quickly connected through emails and video calls. That November, Jill and her father visited Derick in Nepal, and their relationship blossomed. In February 2014, Derick formally asked Jim Bob for Jill’s hand in marriage, and they were married on June 21, 2014. They now have three sons: Israel, born April 6, 2015, Samuel, born July 8, 2017, and Frederick, born July 7, 2022.
In April 2024, Jill announced that she and Derick had experienced a miscarriage while expecting their first daughter.
In the Amazon Prime Video documentary Shiny Happy People: Duggar Family Secrets, which debuted in June 2023, Jill and Derick Duggar discussed the issues and religious convictions linked to their family.

Jim Bob and Michelle’s fifth child, Jessa Duggar, was born Nov. 4, 1992.
Jessa and Ben first met at church, and he began pursuing a relationship with her in 2013. This more traditional approach to courtship was new to many viewers. Because the couple didn’t discuss their romantic relationship before getting engaged, Jim Bob explained to People magazine that courtship involves getting to know each other with both families involved, and setting goals together to see if they’re a good match for marriage. He contrasted this with dating, where couples often spend time alone, which can sometimes lead to physical intimacy.
Ben asked Jessa’s parents for permission to marry her, and then proposed in August 2014 – it was the first time they’d held hands! They quickly married on November 1, 2014. Jessa was pregnant with their first child when their show, 19 Kids and Counting, was canceled. TLC then aired a special featuring Jessa and her sister Jill discussing sexual abuse and raising awareness about the issue. That winter, Jill and Jessa starred in their own spin-off show, Jill and Jessa: Counting On, which later became Counting On and included other members of the Duggar family.
Jessa and Ben have four children: Spurgeon, born in November 2015; Henry, born in February 2017; Ivy Jane, born in May 2019; and Fern, born in July 2021. They sadly experienced a miscarriage during the 2022 holidays, but welcomed their fifth child, George, in December 2023.
In August 2025, Jessa announced the birth of son Edward.

The sixth Duggar child, Jinger Vuolo, was born Dec. 21, 1993.
Jinger and Jeremy first connected while doing mission work in Laredo, Texas, and began dating in 2016. They got married on November 5th, 2016—the same day as Jinger’s nephew Spurgeon’s birthday—and, being part of a large family of 19 children, they quickly faced questions about when they might start a family of their own.
In June 2017, on an episode of Counting On, Jinger shared that she and her family hoped to be settled in Laredo, continuing their ministry and finding ways to serve God.
Jinger and Jeremy Vuolo welcomed their first daughter, Felicity, on July 19, 2018. They had previously shared that they experienced a miscarriage in the fall of 2017. Their second daughter, Evangeline Jo, arrived in November 2020.
Son Finnegan Charles was born March 29, 2025.

Joseph Duggar, born on January 20, 1995, proposed to Kendra Caldwell in May 2017. They had met through church and had only been courting for a short time, and he chose Joy-Anna’s wedding as the perfect moment to ask her to marry him.
Joseph admitted he was nervous when he proposed, but felt confident she’d say yes because she had previously told him, ‘I’m just waiting on you!’ Kendra, clearly overjoyed, shared with People magazine, ‘I’m so happy and so shocked – I don’t even know what to say!’
The couple has welcomed three children: Garrett, born in June 2018, Addison, born in November 2019, and Brooklyn, born in February 2021.

Eighth in line, Josiah Duggar was born on Aug. 28, 1996.
After publicly dating for only a few months, the couple announced they were engaged in March 2018. He shared that he proposed to Lauren in the same location where her parents had gotten engaged, explaining that the property held a lot of family history and was therefore particularly meaningful to her.
Lauren’s future mother-in-law, Michelle, shared in a video on the family’s blog how much they adore her, calling her a ‘precious girl.’ Jessa and Ben also congratulated the couple and gave them chocolates shaped like hearts and kisses. Michelle jokingly said they knew the couple planned to share their first kiss on their wedding day, but offered the chocolates as a fun consolation prize if they visited.
Josiah previously dated Marjorie Jackson, but they ended their relationship in the summer of 2015. He told People magazine in March 2016 that they had enjoyed their time together and were both trying to discern what God wanted for them. Ultimately, Marjorie didn’t feel the timing was right, so they decided to take a break from the relationship.
He and Lauren got married on June 30, 2018, and described their wedding day as “absolutely perfect” in an interview with People magazine. They had their first daughter, Bella Milagro, on November 8, 2019. They chose the name, which means “miracle baby,” after Lauren experienced a miscarriage in October 2018. The couple expanded their family with another daughter, Daisy, in 2022, and a son named Ezra in May 2023.

Ninth sibling Joy-Anna Duggar was born Oct. 28, 1997.
Joy-Anna Duggar and Austin Forsyth had been friends for 15 years before they began dating. They quickly got engaged in February 2017 and married just a few months later on May 26, 2017, at Cross Church in Rogers, Arkansas – the same wedding where Joseph Duggar proposed to Kendra Caldwell!

Joy-Anna and Austin Forsyth have three children: Gideon Martin Forsyth, born February 23, 2018, Evelyn Mae Forsyth, born August 21, 2020, and Gunner James Forsyth, born May 17, 2023.

Oh my gosh, you guys, can you believe it? Jim Bob and Michelle had another set of twins! It was December 30th, 1998, and they welcomed Jed and Jeremiah Duggar into the world! I seriously can’t even handle the cuteness! They’re just… perfect!

Jed and Katey Nakatsu married in April 2021 after dating for a year. They have two children: a son named Truett, born in May 2022, and a daughter named Nora Kate, born in June 2023.
Jed and Katey shared the exciting news in July 2024 that they were expecting twin girls. Elsie Kate and Emma Kate arrived on January 8, 2025.

Jeremiah, a flight instructor, is married to Hannah Wissmann, who is the sister of Stephen (Jana’s husband). They have two daughters: Brynley, born in December 2022, and Brielle, born in February 2024.
They announced the arrival of their third daughter, Emery ‘Emy’ Jane Duggar, on May 18, 2025.

No. 12 Jason Duggar was born on April 21, 2000.
In January 2017, the Daily Mail reported that Jim Bob assisted Jase in purchasing a run-down house in Prairie Grove, Arkansas—about half an hour from the Duggar family’s property—and Jase later launched his own construction business.
He publicly announced his relationship with Maddie Grace on Instagram in May 2024, and they got married in October of the same year.

Charmed No. 13, James Duggar was born July 7, 2001.
He’s not dating anyone publicly right now, but he loves being an uncle to his many nieces and nephews.
Mom Michelle described James as the ‘funcle’ – a really fun uncle! – and said all the younger boys admire him and want to be like him. She wrote this on his 19th birthday in 2019. James has always been able to build or fix anything he sets his mind to. Even when he was little, they’d find him taking apart appliances, figuring out how they worked, and then reassembling them – often with his own improvements!
James put in a lot of effort this year and earned his commercial driver’s license! He’s now skilled at operating large trucks and heavy equipment, and we’re excited to see what opportunities lie ahead for him.

No. 14 Justin Duggar arrived on Nov. 15, 2002.
He began dating Claire Spivey in September 2020, and they announced their engagement the following November. They were married on February 26, 2021.

Jackson Duggar, the fifteenth child of Jim Bob and Michelle, was born on May 23, 2004. He’s pictured here with his older sister, Jill.

On Jackson’s sixteenth birthday, his mom, Michelle, complimented his funny personality and said she knew he was eager to finally get his driver’s license.

Johannah Duggar was born on October 11, 2005, which coincided with a family special called 16 Kids and Moving In.
On her daughter’s fifteenth birthday in 2020, Michelle wrote about how much joy she brings to everyone. She described her daughter as friendly and someone who loves meeting new people. Michelle also shared how her younger sisters look up to her, and expressed her gratitude to be her mother.

Jennifer Duggar arrived on Aug. 2, 2007, then the baby of the family.
Their TLC show that premiered Sept. 29, 2008, was christened 17 Kids and Counting.

Now, OMG, she’s a teenager.
Oh my gosh, Jennifer is just… amazing! I mean, seriously, she’s the most dependable, loyal person you could ever meet, and she’s SO much fun! When she turned thirteen, Michelle said it perfectly. All the little cousins absolutely adore her – she’s always got one clinging to her because they refuse to let go! And animals? Don’t even get me started. She’s a total animal lover and takes such incredible care of her pets, every single day. She even helped raise a whole litter of seven bunnies recently! It’s just… she’s perfect!

Here on the right, the penultimate Duggar child was born Dec. 18, 2008.

In 2019, Jordyn-Grace’s mom described her as a friendly and sociable girl who easily makes friends. She also said Jordyn-Grace’s laugh always brightens their day.

Josie Duggar, born on December 10, 2009, was born three months early and weighed just 1 pound, 6 ounces. She spent six months in the NICU, a special unit for premature babies. Here, she’s pictured holding her niece, Meredith.

Michelle described her daughter, Josie, as having boundless energy. In a birthday message for Josie’s 11th birthday in 2020, she wrote that Josie is always on the go, from morning until bedtime!
