The popular manga series Haikyu!! finished its run in 2020, but the anime adaptation is still ongoing. The latest film, Haikyu!! The Dumpster Battle, came out in February 2024, and a sequel, Haikyu!! vs. The Little Giant, is planned for March 2025. A short preview showed fans a glimpse of the exciting match between Karasuno and Kamomedai High Schools. However, details about when the sequel will be released are still unknown, and fans are eagerly awaiting news. Many believe that Jump Festa 2026, a huge anime and manga convention held on December 21st and 22nd with over 100,000 attendees, will be the ideal time for the studio to share updates on the film with both Japanese and international fans.
Jump Festa is a two-day event centered around Shueisha’s popular manga magazines like Weekly Shonen Jump, Jump Square, V Jump, Saikyo Jump, and the Shonen Jump+ online platform. Attendees can expect new announcements for anime, manga, and games, plus interactive displays and exclusive merchandise. A highlight for fans of the hit series Haikyu!! will be a stage appearance by the voice actors on the second day, from 4:20 PM to 4:50 PM JST, featuring a special talk. While the anime’s official X account is promoting exclusive Haikyu!! merchandise, details about any major announcements haven’t been revealed yet.
It’s Still Unknown If the Full Haikyu!! Manga Will Be Adapted into an Anime

Even before the first trailer came out this year, it was announced that Haikyu!! vs. The Little Giant would be the last Haikyu!! movie. When the studio announced these two final films in 2022, many fans were upset. However, things calmed down this year when the movie was no longer labeled as “final,” leading some to hope for a fifth season or another movie afterward. For now, this is just speculation, and we won’t know for sure until the studio makes an official announcement.
The new movie is still being made, and it will cover Karasuno’s challenging match against Kamomedai in the Spring High National Tournament quarterfinals. Kamomedai is an incredibly strong team, especially known for their serving, blocking, and ability to stay focused under pressure – skills Karasuno hasn’t encountered before. Their star player, Kōrai Hoshiumi, nicknamed the ‘Little Giant,’ has even recognized Hinata’s potential and considers him a rival.
Their rivalry comes from being similarly short volleyball players who both earned starting positions on their teams at Nationals. The story then jumps ahead several years after Hinata graduates high school, focusing on his continued volleyball career in what many Weekly Shonen Jump readers consider one of the series’ best endings.
