Ariana Grande and Ethan Slater Prove They’re Still Going Strong

It looks like Ariana Grande and Ethan Slater haven’t said “thank u, next” to their romance. 

Ariana Grande, the singer of “7 Rings,” quickly dismissed rumors that she and actor Darien Henry had broken up. She did this by posting a cute picture with her Wicked: For Good co-star from the London premiere of the movie on November 10th.

Ariana, wearing a black dress, posed between Ethan and Danny Skinner – her co-star from SpongeBob SquarePants Musical: Live on Stage! – at a movie screening on November 11th. The three of them looked cheerful, linking arms and smiling for the photo.

Ariana also made time for Ethan, whom people found out she was dating in July 2023.

Ariana Grande also shared photos with her close friend and costar Cynthia Erivo, who played Glinda to her Elphaba, and celebrated a family get-together with her mother, Joan Grande, father, Edward Butera, and brother, Frankie Grande.

Captioning the precious collection of photos, she wrote simply, “Thank you, London.” 

In the weeks before the London premiere of Wicked: For Good, rumors started that Ariana, 32, and Ethan, 33, might have broken up. These rumors intensified when they only appeared together in one group photo with the cast on the red carpet.

Although the couple hasn’t addressed the rumors themselves, Ariana has shared what’s helped her tune out the attention surrounding her private life lately.

In a recent interview with The New York Times, she shared how deeply connected and inspired she feels by her work, calling it a wonderful gift. She realized she didn’t have to live up to others’ expectations and could instead focus solely on her art, but she first had to allow herself to believe that was possible.

In July 2023, news outlets reported that Ariana Grande and Ethan Slater had recently started dating after meeting on the set of the movie Wicked. Then, in early September 2023, Grande quietly showed her support for Slater by liking a post celebrating his role in the Broadway production of Spamalot.

Later that month, the pair were first spotted together at Disney World – a place Ariana Grande loves. Photos published by TMZ showed them walking through the Florida theme park, holding hands.

According to a source familiar with their relationship, Ariana Grande and Ethan Slater recently spent time with a large group of friends and family – including Grande’s mother and brother – and seem very happy together, bringing out the best in each other.

Then, just a few weeks later, Ariana was there cheering on her co-star during previews of Spamalot on Broadway – how supportive! Ariana Grande went to the opening night of Spamalot and shared photos from the evening on Instagram. She wore a chic black dress with sheer black gloves and a Spamalot souvenir cup. Her post also included a shout-out to the cast, including her brother Frankie Slater, wishing them a happy opening night.

Ariana Grande shared a peek at her holiday decorations on Instagram in December 2023, including a Christmas tree with a unique ornament: a Spam can. Fans immediately noticed the connection to her then-boyfriend, Ethan Slater, who was starring in the Broadway musical Spamalot – a show famously based on the Monty Python film that frequently references Spam.

On Dec. 23, 2023, the couple stepped out with Grande’s father Ed Butera for dinner in New York City. 

That same month, Ariana Grande hinted at new music, and in early 2024, she announced her album, Eternal Sunshine. While the album doesn’t directly mention her boyfriend, fans noticed the album’s initials, E.S., match his initials, leading to speculation about a connection.

Ariana Grande and her ex-husband, Dalton Gomez, officially divorced in March 2024. Later that summer, her brother, Frankie Grande, publicly supported her new relationship.

“I love him,” Frankie said of Slater in a June 2024 interview with TooFab. “He’s a very sweet guy.”

Shortly after Frankie’s interview was published, Ariana Grande and Ethan Slater were seen together at the 2024 Stanley Cup Finals in Florida. This was their most public appearance as a couple since they began dating.

Just a month after publicly backing Ariana Grande’s hosting appearance on Saturday Night Live in October 2024, Ethan Slater finally spoke about their relationship and the attention it has received.

In a recent October 2024 interview with GQ, Slater described falling in love with Grande while working on the movie Wicked as a wonderful experience. He expressed his excitement and pride in her dedication and hard work on the film, noting how much effort she put into it.

Even so, Slater confessed it was hard to regain people’s approval, especially while they held onto their old notes and writing tools.

He explained that it was incredibly challenging to have personal matters publicly scrutinized and discussed. With so much personal change already happening, it felt particularly difficult to deal with opinions from people who weren’t aware of the full story.

He managed to tune out most of the distractions. When asked about Ariana Grande’s song “Imperfect For You,” which many believe is about him, he simply said, “I love that song.”

During a quick visit to Sydney, Australia, stars Kristin Chenoweth and Idina Menzel, who played Glinda and Elphaba in Wicked, shared a friendly hug at a press event for the musical.
