FromSoftware and Bandai Namco have revealed the first big expansion for the online game Elden Ring Nightreign, called The Forsaken Hollows. It will be released in December.
The upcoming game, The Forsaken Hollows, releases on December 4th and introduces two new playable characters called Nightfarers. It also features new bosses, a dynamic new gameplay element called ‘shifting earth’, and other additions.
When The Forsaken Hollows releases, players can expect two new bosses for the third day of Nightreign, plus some well-known bosses returning from both Elden Ring and Dark Souls.

Fan-favorite bosses like the Divine Beast Dancing Lion from the Shadow of the Erdtree expansion, Knight Artorias from Dark Souls, and Astel, Naturalborn of the Void from Elden Ring are returning, and players can also expect to face some new mid-bosses.
We haven’t learned exactly what the two new Nightfarer classes will be yet, but it seems one will fight using spells from a spellbook, and the other will strengthen itself with dark magic during battles. We expect to get more details about them in the next few weeks.
Elden Ring Nightreign is a new multiplayer game set in the Elden Ring universe, but it’s not a sequel. Think of it like a mix between Elden Ring and Fortnite – you’ll explore a map that gets smaller over time, collecting items and fighting bosses as you go. It’s a roguelite, meaning each playthrough is unique.
Okay, so each time you try a run, it’s spread out over three nights. At the end of every night, you have to beat a miniboss. Then, after the third night, you face off against the main boss for that run – they call them Nightlords, and each one is different!
The game launched in May and quickly became popular with players. Since then, we’ve added several updates, including a two-player option and a harder difficulty setting for those who want a real challenge.
The new downloadable content for Elden Ring, called The Forsaken Hollows, will be released on December 4th. Elden Ring itself is currently available on PC, PlayStation, and Xbox, and you can find my review of the game here.
