James Van Der Beek is parting with some Dawson’s Creek treasures amid his health battle.
A 48-year-old man is auctioning off items from his personal collection to help with his fight against stage 3 colon cancer, which he’s been battling for over two years. The auction, hosted by Propstore, will be held in December.
James explained in a statement on the company’s website that he’s held onto these valuable items for years, waiting for the perfect moment to share them. Recent unexpected events have made him realize that moment has arrived.
Although it’s a little bittersweet letting go of these things, I’m happy to be able to offer them through Propstore’s auction as a way of saying thank you to the people who have enjoyed my work over the years.
According to People, proceeds will go to the actor to help fund his battle against cancer.
Items up for auction include a stuffed E.T. toy and an Indiana Jones figurine that decorated the bedroom of Dawson Leery, the character played by Van Der Beek in Dawson’s Creek. Van Der Beek is a big fan of Steven Spielberg. These collectibles are estimated to sell for between £1,000 and £2,000 (approximately $1,300 to $2,600).

The auction will also feature clothing and accessories owned by Dawson, including a white Arcadia sweater. A necklace with a black stone, famously worn by Van Der Beek’s character and later given to Joey Potter (Katie Holmes), is a key item. Experts estimate the necklace will sell for between £20,000 and £40,000 (approximately $26,200 to $52,400).

Okay, so I’m clearing out some of my collection, and it’s not just about my days on Dawson’s Creek! I’m also putting up a hat from my Varsity Blues days – it’s a West Canaan Coyotes hat – and a really cool pair of black and white Reebok cleats I actually wore in the movie. It’s a little piece of football history, and I think fans will love it!
