2K’s team recently unveiled that Oklahoma City Thunder MVP Shai Gilgeous-Alexander will grace the cover of NBA 2K26. At first, they were tight-lipped about other details. However, we didn’t have to wait long for more news. Today, not only has NBA 2K26 revealed its two additional cover stars for this year’s edition of the popular game series, but they’ve also shared preorder information and the official release date.
On the front page, you’ll find two soon-to-be sports hall of famers: Carmelo Anthony (Superstar Edition) and Angel Reese (WNBA Edition). They unite for the Leave No Doubt Edition.

It’s not too unexpected that Melo will be part of this year’s NBA Hall of Fame. Last year, Vince Carter was featured on the cover of NBA 2K when he got inducted, and Melo is one of the most recognized players in this year’s class (alongside Dwight Howard). Melo himself expressed that having his image on NBA 2K26’s cover and being inducted into the Hall of Fame in the same year feels unreal.
Reese stated, “Appearing on the cover of NBA 2K26 and introducing my first-ever signature shoe with Reebok, the Angel Reese 1, is not just a significant achievement; it’s a powerful declaration.” Meanwhile, SGA described being featured on the NBA 2K26 cover as “a fulfillment of a lifelong dream, all the more special after winning an NBA championship.
The upcoming NBA 2K26 game will be released on September 5th and can be played on PlayStation, Xbox, PC, and Nintendo Switch systems. Notably, the Nintendo Switch version seems to match the performance of the PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X/S editions.
