Emmerdale hit by schedule shake-up tonight as England football match airs

Just a heads-up for all my fellow Emmerdale fans – it won’t be on tonight, October 13th. ITV has decided to switch things up with the schedule, so we’ll have to wait another day to see what happens in the village!

The show typically airs every weeknight at 7:30pm, and a longer, one-hour episode is shown on Thursdays.

Well, folks, it looks like plans have changed. Instead of the show we were expecting, we’re getting live coverage of a FIFA World Cup qualifier. I’ll be watching – and you can too! – as Mark Pougatch leads the broadcast of the England versus Serbia match, starting at 7pm and running until 10:05pm. It’s football instead of fiction tonight!

Viewers will need to wait until tomorrow to see what happens next after the recent episode focusing on Robert Sugden, which featured the surprising reappearance of Faith Dingle.

We saw Faith in scenes from before she passed away in 2022 after a battle with breast cancer. In those moments, she urged him to begin the process of getting out of prison, hoping he could be with her husband, Aaron Dingle (Danny Miller), again.

He’d fallen in love with a fellow inmate, Kev Townsend (played by Chris Coghill), and had to invent a story to explain why he was appealing his conviction.

Robert told Kev that his sister, Vic (played by Isabel Hodgins), had been diagnosed with a brain tumor and he needed to be with her. However, this turned out not to be true, and Kev discovered the deception at the end of the previous episode.

Tomorrow’s episode will show him deeply upset after a shocking discovery. Meanwhile, Paddy Dingle is concerned about his father, Bear Wolf, who has gone missing.

While on a walk with Matty Barton (Ash Palmisciano), Eve thinks she has spotted her grandfather…

Emmerdale airs weeknights at 7:30pm on ITV1. Stream on ITVX.
