It turns out that fans of the Tony Hawk’s Pro Skater franchise may find the soundtrack for the latest release, Tony Hawk’s Pro Skater 3 + 4, a bit underwhelming if they are long-time fans. According to VGC, the soundtrack for this new title, featuring 64 tracks, only includes 10 songs that were originally in THPS 3 and 4.
To provide a sense of contrast, let me clarify that out of the entire soundtrack for this remake, approximately 54 tunes are brand new compositions. Interestingly, among the 10 tracks that were reprised, you’ll recognize some popular favorites such as “96 Quite Bitter Things” by CKY, “My Adidas” by Run-DMC, and “Amoeba” by Adolescents. However, fan-loved tracks like AC/DC’s “TNT” and Alien Ant Farm’s “Wish” did not find a place in the remake.
As a compensatory measure, developers at Iron Galaxy Studios and publishers from Activision successfully incorporated fresh tracks that fit the game’s theme, featuring artists such as Run The Jewels, 100 Gecs, and Idles.
In his Instagram post revealing the soundtrack, Tony Hawk expressed that he decided to combine familiar tracks with more contemporary music. His aim was to introduce the players of Tony Hawk’s Pro Skater 3 + 4 to new tunes, while also taking them on a nostalgic trip by including hits from the original soundtracks.
Hawk decided to select some alternative tunes from the same musicians found on the THPS3+4 soundtrack. He believes that part of the charm lies in the discovery process, which is why these soundtracks have been memorable. So sit back, listen, and enjoy the journey. There’s more to come – a mix of old favorites and fresh tracks.
In a recent update, Iron Galaxy has shared details about the accessibility and customization options for game difficulty in the launch celebration of Tony Hawk’s Pro Skater 3 + 4. The studio has confirmed that this game comes with an extensive tutorial designed to teach players the intricacies of its fast-paced arcade gameplay, while also offering opportunities for players to personalize their gaming experience by adjusting the game settings according to their preferences.
In addition to playing the game, users can customize the challenge level by adjusting the settings. For instance, they can accelerate the game pace significantly, pushing it to three times its normal speed. Moreover, the game offers a balancing act, making advanced techniques like Manuals and Grinds harder to execute with precision.
It’s exciting that Tony Hawk’s Pro Skater 3 and 4 have been released, and it’s worth mentioning that Tony Hawk himself expressed a desire for the remastering of Tony Hawk’s Underground in a May interview. When asked about his aspirations for the remaster, Hawk stated, “I always have dreams. It’s not usually up to me. I’ll do my best to advocate, but I’m collaborating with a larger company that’s far more intelligent than I am.
The highly-anticipated Tony Hawk’s Pro Skater 3 & 4 is now available on PC, PlayStation 4, PlayStation 5, Xbox One, Xbox Series X/S, Nintendo Switch, and even Nintendo Switch 2! For comprehensive information about this exciting release, check out the details below.
