Schitt’s Creek’s Fan-Favorite Actor Is Unrecognizable In Fox’s Crime Show That You Aren’t Watching

Many talented actors appeared in the hit show Schitt’s Creek, and one of the most beloved is now starring in a new role – and looks completely different! Created by Dan and Eugene Levy, the show followed the wealthy Rose family after they lost their fortune and were forced to move to a small town they once jokingly purchased. It ran for six seasons on CBC and became a fan favorite.

While Schitt’s Creek boasted a talented cast including Eugene and Dan Levy, along with Catherine O’Hara and Annie Murphy, it was the show’s supporting characters who truly made it one of the best comedies of the last ten years. As the wealthy Rose family adjusted to their unwanted new life in a rundown small town, their interactions with the locals led to both hilarious situations and heartwarming lessons.

Noah Reid, known for his warm and grounded portrayal of Patrick, David’s partner, is surprising audiences with his new role on television.

Noah Reid Is A Notorious Serial Killer In Fox’s Murder In A Small Town

Taylor Reid returns to television in season two of Fox’s Murder in a Small Town, reprising his role as Tommy Cummins – the killer that police chief Karl Alberg (played by Rossif Sutherland) captured in season one. Tommy Cummins’ story is one of the few continuing plotlines in this murder mystery, which is based on the Alberg and Cassandra Mysteries – a series of crime novels set in British Columbia and written by L.R. Wright.

Reid last appeared as the villain in the season one finale of Murder in a Small Town, but his story isn’t over yet. Though Karl managed to arrest him, achieving full justice will be a lengthy process. Jamie Chung joins the cast as the assistant district attorney handling the case when Reid returns in season two, episode eight, “Masterpiece” of Murder in a Small Town.

According to executive producer Tina Pehme (in an interview with TVInsider), the next season of the show will be more ambitious than previous ones. She also revealed that actor Michael Cummins plays Karl’s main enemy. This is a significant change for Reid, who plays the art teacher – a character secretly committing murder and using the victims as subjects for his art. It’s a far cry from his more well-known, charming role in Schitt’s Creek.

Why You Should Be Watching Murder In A Small Town

For years, network television – channels like CBS, ABC, and NBC – have successfully featured crime thrillers and police shows. While each network has its own versions of these popular genres, it’s easy to overlook shows that aren’t on those major channels. That’s unfortunate for Murder in a Small Town, which offers a fresh take on the police procedural. The show initially drew between 1.7 and 2.2 million viewers each week. Now, in its second season, every episode is consistently attracting over 2 million viewers.

The show’s growing popularity is a good sign, but it still has a way to go to reach the viewership of other crime dramas. With Reid back as Cummins, we’re hoping Murder in a Small Town will attract more viewers and increase the likelihood of Fox ordering a third season.
