The recent Marvel event, Age of Revelation, has dramatically reshaped the X-Men’s world, rebuilding it based on the vision of Doug Ramsey, the heir to Apocalypse. As this storyline nears its end, it will not only wrap up future events but also explain how we arrive at that future, permanently altering the current Marvel Universe. X-Men: Age of Revelation Finale #1, hitting shelves December 31st, promises massive changes for the X-Men, and ComicBook has an exclusive sneak peek.
The one-shot comic X-Men: Age of Revelation Finale #1, written by Jed MacKay and illustrated by Ryan Stegman, concludes the entire Age of Revelation storyline. Announced earlier this year, Age of Revelation promised a look at the Marvel Universe ten years in the future, exploring a surprisingly dark path and significantly impacting future events. This first look reveals the story will culminate in a fierce battle with lasting consequences. You can find more details below.
“Ensuring The Survival of Everyone”

Not much is known about the final issue of X-Men: Age of Revelation, but the story seems to be heading towards a dark conclusion. Marvel describes the one-shot through the words of the villain, Revelation, who insists his actions, no matter how extreme, are for the greater good. He claims he’s acting not out of malice, but out of a twisted sense of love, and that his goal isn’t to gain power, but to eliminate its corrupting influence. He believes he was tasked with ensuring only the strong survive, but he’s actually trying to ensure everyone survives.
Regardless of how the Age of Revelation concludes, writer Kieron Gillen has hinted that the events will significantly impact the X-Men and the broader Marvel Universe. He suggested back in July that these events will determine whether it’s a new beginning or a final ending for certain storylines.
MacKay recently shared their enthusiasm for being a key part of this event. They described a journey to a futuristic setting called the Age of Revelation, where the events in the Revelation Territories will determine the fate of the world – whether it ushers in a new era or leads to its destruction. They also expressed excitement about seeing other creators contribute to and build upon the world they’ve been developing.
Everything Changes After Age of Revelation
As a huge X-Men fan, I’m really excited about what’s coming next! After the big ‘Age of Revelation’ storyline wraps up, January kicks off a new era called ‘Shadows of Tomorrow.’ It sounds like things will really focus on the fallout from everything that just happened, picking up in the present day. The good news is some of my favorite titles, like Gail Simone’s Uncanny X-Men and MacKay’s X-Men, are continuing. But even better, we’re getting new series focusing on characters like Cyclops and Deadpool – I can’t wait to see where they take those stories!
X-Men: Age of Revelation Finale #1 goes on sale December 31st.
