Metroid 4 Set to Arrive on December 4
As a huge Metroid fan, I’m so excited that Metroid Prime 4: Beyond is finally coming out on December 4th for the Nintendo Switch and the new Nintendo Switch 2! Honestly, the wait has been brutal. It feels like forever since Nintendo first showed us a glimpse of Metroid Prime 4 way back at E3 in 2017. After Metroid Other M and Metroid: Federation Force, everyone was desperate for a proper new Metroid Prime game. It got to the point where some fans started to lose hope and move on, but it looks like Nintendo really delivered, and it’s almost here!
The development of the new Metroid Prime game faced several challenges. Nintendo initially tried to create the game on their own, but struggled to complete it, so they brought in a European studio for assistance. Progress remained slow, and the game wasn’t meeting Nintendo’s expectations. Ultimately, in 2019, Nintendo decided to start the project over. They announced that Retro Studios, the team originally known for the beloved atmosphere of the Metroid Prime series, would now be leading development.
Nintendo faced a new challenge when they realized a new console, the Nintendo Switch 2, was launching soon. This meant their upcoming game needed to be ready for release on both the original Switch and the new Switch 2, making development even more complex. Fortunately, Nintendo seems to have overcome these obstacles, and the long-awaited game is almost here.
