Nintendo released a new trailer for Metroid Prime 4: Beyond today, giving fans a look at the world of Viewros and the abilities Samus will use. The trailer also showed that players can be helped by Galactic Federation soldiers – essentially, AI companions who will assist you during gameplay.
After getting a closer look through early gameplay, we’ve learned more about Myles MacKenzie. He’s an engineer who’s a big fan of Samus – which makes sense! – and he joins her during the first hour of the game.
You can see the gameplay in the video below, where Myles explores the world. He suggests opening the map and reacts dramatically when encountering wild creatures. While the beautiful landscapes and unique buildings of Viewros are impressive, the suspense of being ambushed by monsters is lessened when Myles loudly gives directions.
Samus ultimately departs, leaving Myles at a workstation, but he warns things are about to become very technical. Although Samus’s other allies don’t seem as bothersome, the current writing isn’t very promising.
The new game, Metroid Prime 4: Beyond, comes out on December 4th. You’ll be able to play it on Nintendo Switch, and the updated Switch model will also offer mouse support and HDR visuals.
